  1. Seeing Mata in a United shirt will be sickening, but to turn against Mourinho is beyond ridiculous.
  2. His contribution to Chelsea FC is ineffable, not only his performances but his presence and character on and off the pitch. 9.29pm: Mata’s corner is swung over from the right, Drogba times his run at the near post to the split second and thumps a header into the roof of the net. Bayern’s players sink to their knees in frustration. The final is going to extra time. We all know what followed, adios Mata.
  3.    Worst transfer I've had to experience as a Chelsea fan thusfar.
  4. Don't count on it. This still breaks me TBF though I don't think I can watch another United game apart from the ones against us anyway.
  5. Followed by: "We feel mixed emotions... we are all sad and I think with him it was a bit the same." Honestly do you think Mourinho's going to come out and say anything different? Like "yes, we feel he has no place here anymore any he had to go".
  6. Read spoiler @1chelsea, On topic though: Wonder when this medical will get done? Hope it's soon.
  7. Good post, media again trying to make Chelsea look like idiots. Besides, there is a difference between being anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. Ronaldo refused to swap shirts with Israeli players on international duty out of respect for Palestine, big deal. The media seem to love mixing the two up.
  8. Portgual: Nemanja Matic: Primeira Liga Player of the Year: 2012–13 Switzerland (and Africa): Mohammad Salah: CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year: 2012, SAFP Golden Player - Swiss Golden Player Award for best player in the Swiss Super League: 2013 Belgium: Thorgan Hazard: Belgium Player of the Year 2013, Talent of the year Spain: Thibaout Courtiois: LFP Best Goalkeeper : 2012-13, Best Belgian player abroad : 2013 England: Romelu Lukaku: West Brom's Young Player of the Year 2012-2013, Nathaniel Chalobah: England Men's Youth Player of the Year (1): 2013 Netherlands : Van Ginkel: Dutch Football Talent of the Year: 2012–13, as it stands Lucas Piazon is also looking VERY good odds for Eredivisie player of the year 2013-2014. Some of the players we've signed and loaned over the past few years are playing at amazing levels in Europe! We really are fortunate to have such talents.
  9. Honestly I really feel this could be Demba Ba's time. Since he's come Chelsea most will agree he's only been afforded a small run of games to show us his worth. given a genuine run of games a striker who can score 14 goals mid season in the premier league for Newcastle, has the ability to do the same for a club like Chelsea for the remaining half of the season. Under Mourinho you get as Ibrahmovich professes, a drive to "kill" for him. Ba was given a massive boost by the man himself a few days ago and it's reasonable to assume he received that well:
  10. Apparently he's going to resign from the board later today.
  11. I wonder what impact that this could have for us in the short term notwithstanding Mata's presence on our bench for the last 2 weeks. It's just an unwanted distraction on a whole new level of unwanted. With the CIty game fast approaching I think some fans will be very rightly disgruntled for a few games following this sickening transfer. Also their were some reports that JT was crying and a lot of the players were shattered when hearing the news from Mata. I'm sure Chelsea will be able to cope with his loss and Mourinho will work his magic, but this is just move where Mourinho's magic didn't really need to be called upon at all. Honestly I still can't believe we're giving united our current holder of the player of the year trophies.
  12. WTH accepting it before the game is stupid and deplorable enough but accepting it so quickly after this loss?! Wonder which it was
  13. I can only go by what's being posted, and that gif strongly suggests you're in a mood to celebrate. And I do usually have a sense of humour, but I, aswell as a lot of other Chelsea fans are certainly not in the mood today.
  14. I can see that you've accepted this but you don't have to celebrate his impending move to Utd as much as the United fans are ...
  15. A lot of conjecture being thrown around about this deal but I still can't allign myself with the camp that feels this will benifit Chelsea. 40 mill will help with FFP but for a club like Chelsea I doubt we will ever fail to meet these regulations. I think the consensus since the inception of these regulations were that they were more bravado than substance and that they will essentially end up hurting smaller clubs rather than Chelsea. Mata's also a player who has ridiculousley low wages and all this said, it's laughable to assume that a club like Chelsea need this money. Mata was the catalyst in our rejuvination 2 years ago and who's to say he won't do the same at the sleeping giants in Manchester. Even if his impact isn't tangible he could, like Ozil to Arsenal, become a poster-boy for enthusiasm at a club that is devoid of anything to cheer for. I think most agree selling Mata to United is undesirable but those who acquiese to this happening and are even pushing (so it seems) are IMO wrong. By giving Mata to United we're not only playing with the tempted luck by hoping it doesn't reawaken a sleeping giant, but are handing David Moyes and United a lifeline. Moyes, the man who failed to persuade the likes of Baines to join him at United, can become the man who brought Juan Mata to the club. United with RVP, Rooney, Mata and Januzaj also go from looking a fallen force to one that has the potential to again challenge next season. There is a plausible inferance that can be taken from this deal coming to fruition: that Mourinho has finally broken the board power and commands full control of the happenings of Chelsea, but again this is an inferance. As @We Hate Scouse, pointed out it could indeed be the board bowing their heads to a tantilising 40 million pounds rather than handing Mourinho a vote of confidence. Maybe that's the case maybe it's not, we can't know for sure. That all said, In the short-term, long-term, any term IMHO selling Mata to United is not a deal that will realistically benifit Chelsea as a football club. I hope that this is another media fiction that we can all laugh about in two weeks. The hardest part of this all right now is not knowing anything!
  16. This prospect sickens me so much. We don't need the money, hes not a troublemaker, he's on ridiculousley low wages etc. (More reasons on my post on pg 311 below): But to show it's not sentimant speaking Martin Samuel emphasises some similair points very eloquently: Whatever Mata (could)achieves in a red shirt this season, he is the poster boy for optimism. Last week, Moyes was the man who couldn’t persuade Leighton Baines to leave Everton — now he is the manager who signed Mata. Why have (would) Chelsea afforded him this fortunate break? It is the same with Mata. Had this transfer window passed without major recruitment at Manchester United, and the club had then failed to qualify for the Champions League, how much harder would it have been to rejuvenate the squad in the summer?Creative players with Mata’s gift are rare. United would find it hard to rebuild in such a competitive market, yet with Adnan Januzaj on one side, Mata on the other and Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie fit again, a far more substantial team begins to take shape.United have been crying out for a player of Mata’s substance. All the more reason not to sell him, then. It will be cast as a bold move, a brave move, and proof that United are no longer seen as a Premier League force by Mourinho — but in selling Mata, the Happy One may just have woken up a little too chipper for his own good. For all these reasons and more, if this transfer happens it will quite simply be one of the worst transfers Chelsea have ever made. I want to witness the decadance of United (will probably never happen) not the nightmarish possibility of Chelsea given birth to a United revival however minor that may be.
  17. All senimants aside Mata is too good to be a benchwarmer. We have to show Mata the respect he deserves and if Mourinho is indeed planning to displace him for the long term, some sense emanates in selling. Nonetheless, nobody can convice me that selling Mata to Man United in January is good for the club, even at "37 million pounds". Mata may not bring United a title, but like Chelsea two years ago, he has everything to reinvigorate and strenghten their team enormousley. Selling in January aswell, when we need strength to compete with City is also questionable for a club that are quitely challenging for the title, despite rebuffs from Mourinho to the contrary. An injury/suspension to any of our three currently preffered players can also be instantly mitigated with Mata providing equal qualities (and maybe more as a number 10 offensivley than the three currently). That said it's world cup year and I feel for Mata deeply. Mourinho is the main man and it is he who ultimatley makes the decisions. I honestly do think that our wingers tracking back, Matic and Ramires in midfield and our defensive partnership combine to make a potent enough defensive unit for Mata to be given some freedom to attack with a reduced burden on him defensivley. IMO that is a viable option for a lot of games, although Mata can easily demand a greater role in most other clubs, I do still feel Mourinho will give Mata chances in the second half of the season in steaking a claim for his spot. Moreover, the handful of games Mata's had to prove himself on the pitch IMHO doesn't suffice adequate scrutiny in determining categorically that we can let our best player for the last two seasons, the top assist maker in the EPL last year and quite simply a worldclass player like Mata to leave our club. Maybe it is sentimant speaking now but as much sense as some some arguments make it just doesn't feel right to let the humble and classy 25 year old Mata leave with his peak approaching (especially to United) and undoutebly provide a club with the world class qualities he's cultivated over the years at Chelsea.
  18. A game that contradicts our season thus far. The striker made the difference and scored the goals when we were practically innocuous at the time. Eto' is undoubtedly MOTM.
  19. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho delayed the start of his news conference ahead of Sunday's game with Manchester United to welcome ITV journalist Rags Martel, who has recently recovered from cancer, back to the press room. Mourinho was about to start when his face lit up with delight at the sight of Martel staring back at him, and he quickly made his way over to shake hands with the reporter while asking him if everything was "all good?" "All good," replied Martel before adding "it's good to see you back" in reference to Mourinho's return to the club in the summer. Class act.
