It also didn't help that whenever Mata or Oscar got the ball in space out wide, they would come back inside where Villa had 3 midfielders waiting to stop that.

I don't care if anyone trusts in Mourinho or not. All i'm saying is, it might look like we don't need him to us fans, but Mourinho might take a different view and want something different. But Mourinho can easily tell Emenalo he doesn't like the idea of Willian to Spurs, and he could do with him. And the message gets to Roman. It's all speculation of course, we all know naaaseng. And if it doesn't work, Mourinho will take the blame. Not every transfer can work out just like the manager and club planned. You do know he called Willian an "extra target" to Rooney, and we will still be pursuing a striker till the last day. That doesn't mean when another opportunity for a player arises, we shouldn't take it.
-
This is Mourinho we're talking about, not RDM who will simply be a yes man. If he doesn't want the player, he won't be close to signing. Just listen to his presser, "we were trying to hide it last press conference" "Managers lie when they say they're happy with squad, and always looking for more quality" And no one said he's god, but it is still his team. And he will make whatever decisions he sees fit; some will work, some won't. It's all part of the job.
-
Well no we didn't need to sign him, but that's only from a fan's perspective. Mourinho said he lied about being happy with the squad, so there's something he obviously wanted or didn't see in our current attacking midfielders - and just guessing by Willian's style of play, we will have someone more direct than KDB, Oscar and Mata. Someone who is very tricky and we will have 2 explosive players on both wings. Repeating myself here but, we won't sign a player the manager doesn't need, especially not for 30m.
-
No, but saying "we don't need him" is ridiculous when Mourinho is the manager who knows what he needs to get his team playing, how he wants.
-
No Hernandez you say?
-
Isn't Mourinho the person that determines who we need? he might go for a goalscorer if Rooney can't be signed. Because there isn't many players similar to Rooney out there.
-
The only person Willian affects is Piazon. De Rossi or whoever will affect Chalobah and co, and Mourinho already said Chalobah can join the first team next season, so maybe that's why we haven't gotten a DM?
-
A player like Ozil is what i'd say we don't need, he can only play as CAM and we have so many players for that.
-
It doesn't quite match Bayern and Real like you say. Bayern play Ribery and Robben/Shaqiri a lot of times = double threat. Madrid used to play Ronaldo and Di Maria, until Carlo who's playing a weird 4-2-2-2 with Ronaldo as striker. Anyway the point is they had constant threats on both wings, and that is what Willian will be able to offer, in addition to Eden. KDB, Oscar and Mata can play on the right, but they will keep drifting inside and can't take players on which won't help us against teams that sit-back like Villa did. This is not just some "luxury signing". Mourinho won't pay 30m unless he has a need for the player. Because we don't know it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
-
But Moses is not on Willian's level. Not to mention he's pretty inconsistent, can look the real deal today, then tomorrow the complete opposite. Also, we have no strikers. When i say out-and-out striker, i mean a pure goalscorer like Falcao, Gomez or Higuain not Torres or Ba lol. And like i said before, this is the type of signing Bayern and Madrid make, and they have 2 of the best squads in football. Other areas will be fixed in due time, no hurry, or need to panic.
-
Can you blame him though? I'd rather join Spurs than Liverpool, and Chelsea than Spurs. If Barcelona said they want him today, he will join them - he has no connections to any team, i bet he just wants to join a good team, get good money and win trophies.
-
I really am not worried about anything lol. Mourinho is a new manager, he will want to make his signings. He will not see some players as sure starters, like previous managers did. He will see need much different than all of us, so while we were all happy with "Mazacar" last season, Mourinho might want a more direct player on the right. And while we want an out-and-out striker, Mourinho wants someone who can work beween the lines. It's all very interesting, and you can bet everything will be sorted out. You don't turn into a great team with 1 transfer window, whoever we can't or don't get now, we will probably find a better option in January, or next summer.
-
We will eventually get a DM. Jose probably doesn't know how badly we need one yet, because it's the one position we have hardly been linked with any players. Lampard still being around doesn't help much.
-
I agree, we're really doing a Bayern/Madrid right now and stockpiling very good players - it's disgusting, but you can't argue the immense quality in those 2 squads
-
Mata is not leaving, he's only going to start at CAM now with a more capable "winger" on the wings.
-
He's not like Willian though. Schurrle has pace for the counter attack, to get in behind people. Willian is like Hazard and can beat people off the dribble, we don't have that anywhere else if Moses leaves. It's crazy to have 6 good players for 3 positions, but there will be a crazy amount of rotation and Jose will have all of them buy into the fact, the team comes first.
-
Didn't Moyes also talk about Fabregas? hypocrisy like someone just put it above.
-
Tapping up is speaking to the player behind the club's back, which we haven't done. Also, thought you started out alright here, why are you now trolling?
-
As short as possible: Brilliant 1st half against Hull, but couldn't score more than 2 goals. 2nd half was bad, but that happens when leading sometimes. Against Villa we started well, but that only lasted till the 7th minute after our goal. Then the weird passing from Lampard started, Ba was caught offside 5 times in one half and the game was really boring. We didn't have many chances and we only won thanks to good set-piece delivery from Lampard - probably the only good thing he did all game. And Cech made some top saves.
-
Can't say no to good players. Not exactly our concern if we have abundance of talent, Mourinho might want someone different - Willian is more skillful than our attacking mids, except Hazard, and has a good eye for goal. We just need to sign a striker no matter what though. As for the pivot, i believe we have good options in Rambo, MVG, Essien, Mikel, Lampard and Oscar (if we don't sign anyone else). Mourinho just needs to find the right players for different opponents, and sometimes switch to a 3 man midfield.
-
The only area you're better than us is at striker, we have no one to match RVP or Hernandez. Apart from that, we match or better you in every other individual position. It will be a tough game for us, since it's away and Moyes 1st home game, but your ridiculous "we're champions and will show you why" statement could easily back-fire, since it will still be a close game if the 5 meetings between the 2 sides last season is anything to go by. Of which you only won once - with an offside goal btw.
-
If we fail with Rooney we will sign someone else, there's always a fallback option.
-
Fair enough, we will see on Monday.

Mourinho said he was thinking of playing Azpi, but went with Ivanovic to deal with Benteke. Azpi is fit enough to be on the bench, he will play. Luiz is a gamble though, Cahill will most likely start.
