Mourinho played defensive football but, defensive football does not = 0 attack. We had 4 attackers out there, and they all managed to play badly. No width, no drive, nothing. We will play like this vs Man city also, but if we select better forwards, we will be able to do damage on the break.

Oscar was good defensively, but a CAM is meant to focus on attack first. Mata needs to get his first choice spot back behind the striker. Oscar plays deeper, or should be on the bench to rest Mata.

So is Jovetic a CAM then? This is a pointless argument, he's a striker who's versatile enough to play upfront alone, with another striker, or as an inside forward. As for Tevez, yeah he's a better goalscorer than Jovetic, but that's an area i'm sure he knows he can improve on.

If there's a team who use 4-4-2 with 2 players upfront. There will obviously be one of them who drops off the other like Jovetic does, so isn't that player still a striker? And Tevez scored 17 goals in that withdrawn role last season, not much different from Jovetic.

Jovetic is a striker. The type Mourinho was talking about, that can play between the lines. He scores goals and creates, like Tevez or Rooney. We bought MVG for 9m, he needs time to get settled, but i believe Pat Nevin it was who said, he will be starting every game in 2 months time. And Mourinho has repeatedly said we will buy a striker, so no need to worry.

Because he's a striker, he played every game as that last season with Fiorentina. Man city play 2 strikers, he will have the 'creator' role whenever he plays with Aguero, Dzeko or Negredo. Just like Tevez, literally no difference. So they spent 23m on Negredo, a backup, so how exactly is that different from Willian? who will actually start.

Don't think anyone called him a pure RW, but that is the position he'll play. Considering Hazard is a lock at LW, and Mata/Oscar in the middle.

Stats doesn't tell the whole story. I talked about this before but Schurrle and Willian are completely different players. Schurrle played for us in preseason and now 2 PL games, how many times has he dribbled someone? now just watch one single game of Willian and you'll see him doing step-overs and leaving people for dead all over the place. Big difference. He plays there a lot with Anzhi, like every single game, he spends more than half the time on the right.
