If he plays on the left, he will always cut in and shoot. Like someone said during the game, there's a reason he had the most shots in Bundesliga in his last season at Leverkusen. Normally though he would score with all those chances, but it wasn't happening for him and he kept trying to force it. Anyway I still hope he starts against Villa - for the attacking threat he provides over Willian... but i don't think it's likely since the latter will be fresher.

Luis was very good in the first half, good crosses, positive running which allowed Schurrle to cut in easily. I believe it's only a matter of time before he takes his first team spot.

A lot of the players that started aren't regulars and all tried to score instead of passing. Frustrating to watch, but we did play some good football in the 1st half. Motm Ake, impressive and calm.

If we play so defensively against Man utd and Arsenal etc, then I can understand the complaints - just like last season. But Man city is different, just watch all the other top 5 teams go there and lose. We're not good enough to take the game to a team like that, especially away from home. What we do need though is better counter attacks, there's no excuse for 0 shots in the 1st half with the pace and quality in the side.

Yep. In the Fa cup game, Pellegrini fixed the midfield and didn't have to use slow Demichelis in there, so our counter-attacking style which worked in the league game was easily nullified. Fabregas is needed to maintain possession and make defense splitting passes if we are to create anything - he's also our best set-piece taker for when we can't create from open play. But obviously him playing weakens us defensively, which is why i think Mikel will play alongside Matic. Ramires is just too careless and wayward in the tackle to be trusted in such a big game. Mikel-Matic;Ramires-Fabregas-Hazard;Costa is what i'm expecting.

I don't like what Ramires and Matic are doing. They are both guilty of what Neville was saying about Cesc. Both chase the ball and it gets played around them easily leaving no one in front of back 4.
