There is no difference. Of course you don't expect them to be defensive against lesser teams, but in the big games his teams are dirty, physical and negative. I don't have a problem with this, because it works for him, but i just don't know how someone can say Mourinho is not defensive, but other managers are.

Actually they were negative against Bayern, for 20 minutes in the 2nd leg they attacked - but after they scored they defended for the rest of the game. First leg they were defensive and hardly looked threatening going forward, i remember reading a lot of criticism for the way he set them up that game. And in La liga, they're much better than all but one team, so it's no surprise that is the only game they play defensive. Anyway there's really no point arguing about this, everyone knows about Mourinho and his defensive tactics in the big games.

Lol hard-working wingers = negative. It's like saying Rafa is only playing Moses out wide to be negative. Kuyt scores more goals than your average winger, the main difference is he never neglected the other aspects of the game and worked hard for the team. And Mourinho is known to be negative, you will notice i didn't even mention Chelsea, i mainly said at Madrid and Inter.

We need a reliable 2nd option to Torres, and i don't see Walcott as that. Would you start Walcott as striker away at Man utd? or Man city?
-
Would be better to just get a real striker, someone who has played in the position more than 5 times like Walcott.
-
That is the main thing here. Saw him start as CF against Wigan, very average.
-
It's not all assumptions, but what you said about Oscar is. I don't believe RDM was forced into starting anyone, he made the decision himself and couldn't see or stop the problems that came along with that.

You don't know this though. What drives me crazy is people saying "Roman wants this" or "Roman wants that" when it's all just assumptions. It's funny though that the same Roman who wants attacking football hires a manager believed to be conservative and defensive. And i also wonder why he didn't 'demand' Rafa to start Oscar.

I'm not jumping the gun, i realize the level of opponent's we have been playing. But the players have been looking more confident over the past 2 games, when really they could have been excused for under-performing due to jet lag and what not. I just hope we can build on the past 2 results as we go into this tough festive period.

No it's actually not. You can't expect to have a spark whenever a managerial change happens. It's happened way too often with Chelsea, perhaps that is why Roman keeps firing managers after a couple bad games.

Control the midfield with who though? we only had Romeu as an option. We have already had this discussion before and i said i don't believe he would have made a difference. I really wish we had Terry or even Luiz for that game because the amount of times they won the ball in the air was pathetic and frustrating.

Tbh this is what i don't understand, it seems whenever Fergie or Mourinho does something, people see it as mind games. Maybe Fergie purposely drew at Swansea to look weak to Madrid?
-
Talk about taking things totally in the wrong way. RDM was great the start of the season, we fucked up in November and he was sacked for this, whether anyone agrees with it or not. I've forgotten the amount of league points we had in November, but i'm sure the 8 in 15 we have now is not that bad in comparison.

No of course not, but by beating them - on more than a few occasions - he proves he is also a good manager who can win big games. Which is why i did not agree with the "can't be compared" bit. If it was just Mourinho is better than Rafa, then yeah i agree, he has trophies to prove it.

- I wonder why Mourinho didn't change things against Malaga seriously if he had changed things and we still lost (which was likely because we didn't have any game changers on the bench) then people would still blame him. - We were in even worse form than Fulham who got a very good draw at Arsenal few weeks before that game. - I'm not sure about this, maybe you're right.

I was talking specifically about the past 2 games and building confidence from that. Oh and 8 points out of 15 is surely better than anything we got in November

1. All i wanted to hear. 2. I'm sure this "explosion of love" has got something to do with the "explosion of hate" when he was first announced. Even the people in the media felt sorry for him and now praise everything he does, it's only normal.

Confidence that only comes from winning games. I don't understand what you mean by lasted? those have been our last 2 games and we've played well and won with a huge score-lines. That can only improve the mood and confidence in the dressing room.

In the West ham game the same team he had out, dominated for 45 minutes, then all of a sudden we couldn't hold on to the ball. Remember something similar happened against Spurs under RDM, he didn't change anything either but the players stepped up and won the game. But this time around, like i said they were lacking confidence and just succumbed to the pressure. Fulham, boring team, he's not the only Chelsea manager to get a stupid draw against them, meh. Corinthians i will agree he could have changed something here, like Moses for Oscar.

I did not explicitly say "Benitez is better than Mourinho" it was a counter point to yours that they could not be compared. Well if you have that much success (not just 1 fluke year) against a manger "you cannot be compared with" then obviously something is wrong, somewhere.

Point out where i said that. I only disagreed with the absurd claim the two "cannot be compared", otherwise i wouldn't even have posted anything.

He has only faced 1 big team, and that was Man city at home, mere days after his appointment, and we got a point. What i know is, he took over a team out of form and lacking confidence, but slowly and surely that confidence is returning, and that can only happen by winning games, even against lesser opposition. Oh and "Benitez worshippers" really?
