  1. And there is my point really. If he's instructed to play in the "Mikel role" then he will go forward less and there will be less discussion about his positioning. He was asked to play a more forward role and perhaps went a bit more forward, but this is too be expected - this is the same player who leaves his CB position to join in the attack.
  2. I was one of the people who complained about Lampard. I didn't care when he did it against the lesser teams at the beginning of the season, but he did this against Atletico in the super cup and they hit us on the counter every time. Luiz has not played against any good teams yet, but he's also shown he can stay back - which he did when Mikel went off yesterday. Anyway one of the reasons i like Ramires in the pivot despite his god-awful passing is his ability to track back when we lose the ball, he could be in the opposition half and still recover in time to help the defenders, great guy
  3. Mikel did all the intercepting, but i remember in the first half when he made a nice tackle and put Mata in on goal. And all the part about positioning: Mikel was the DM while Luiz had the license to go forward. It was just like the game when we played Romeu and Mikel together, this time Mikel was the one able to go forward, but he didn't play nearly as well as Luiz did. Imo some people are judging him too harshly considering he's only made 3 starts in the position, he has been doing well enough. Might not be ready to play against the big boys yet, but surely we have a good option against the lesser teams.
  4. Yet again, how can this be? Negredo has played instead of Torres several times in the national team and will do so if he's signed. I'm not a big fan of his though, but he's been good this season.
  5. Everyone can agree the timing of the competition is not ideal, but it's just as important as the Euros or any other continental competition. Difference is in quality and how far ahead European teams are. As for past 4 winners in don't know, but I have seen Tunisia , Egypt and Zambia win it.
  6. He's already 'escaped' International duty several times to stay and play for Chelsea, but i can't see him doing it now. It's an important competition and he's an important player for them.
  7. I really am not looking forward to that game, if West ham can bully us, imagine Stoke lmao. Hopefully we have JT back and we will need Luiz in midfield for that.
  8. What doesn't make sense? if you sign the player you pay his full wages for the duration of his contract. On loan, you have the possibility of paying less with the parent club covering the other portion.
  9. When is he leaving? i thought i read Nigeria wanted players to report to training camp by today.
  10. Adds more depth to the side, so yay. Wages. He was good for them though.
  11. I don't think Moses will be available for this game, so i wonder who Rafa will use on the right, Oscar? Marin? Bale i think is faster than Hazard, but Eden is far better at getting away from defenders. Bale just knocks the ball forward and runs after it, Ferreira even has had success against him the previous couple seasons.
  12. He didn't say he's not leaving, but said he will be staying till the summer. Something Atletico and their fans will appreciate, and he can then leave on good terms knowing he's made them money and also helped them get a CL spot.
  13. More likely to be less, what are the chances of any team offering that amount again? probably not that high.
  14. It won't be the same, Liverpool over the years have had Everton's number, even without Rafa you still beat them a lot in the past couple seasons. They always frustrate us home or away, but i think we can come out of this game with 3 points.
  15. I think Villa is the only good option now.
  16. Can't believe they would turn down 45m, that's too much money.
  17. Daily Mail says he's set to sign for Man utd, 18m. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2253593/Robert-Lewandowski-set-sign-Manchester-United.html
  18. He's not a bad player, he can surely score goals when given the chance - on the few occasions he's actually onside lol - but definitely not Chelsea level yet. Just like Lukaku.
  19. Only if he's going to play on the wings (in place of Moses). I don't buy this ridiculous idea that he can be a good striker, he's no Henry.
  20. Two things: 1. I thought Luiz was very, very good after Mikel came off. He stayed back and won the ball in the air and also on the ground. Attacking wise, he played the best 2 passes of the game to Mata and Cole. Isn't this what people want from the 2nd midfielder playing next to the DM? productivity at both ends of the pitch? Luiz offers this, he has some areas to work on, but this is just his 3rd start in the position. 2. Ivan-Cahill partnership makes me miss JT less. Very solid most of the time.
