Tbh I have already given up on us ever producing a first team player from the academy for a very long time. When I talk of no 10's (I will exclude the ozil, silva types) this is what they look like. Notice the close control, vision, defence splitting passes, imagination and just all round fantastic creativity. These are the type of quality a top club needs and worth losing a player like mata for not oscar.

I thought I was going crazy because i couldn't for the life of me see anything remotely special in his technical (or should I say non defensive game) He doesn't have close control, lacks vision and passing of a playmaker, has tendency to gets clumsy on the ball and loses possession when under pressure and very unadventurous with majority of his passes for a "suppose no 10". if he develops into half the player sneijder was in his prime (which is very unlikely) as he isn't born with such technical ability and qualities then I would be a happy chappy. Perhaps I have become too spoilt from watching artists like Zola and mata in the blues uniform and need to significantly lower my standard and expectation.
