No he doesn't and he certainly didn't at the time Bayern hired him. he built his career off the back of his work at the great attacking ajax side of the 90's and his record of promoting youth also played a role in barca and munich hiring him. He fit their philosphy, now whether his appointment worked out well in the end or not is besides the point and different argument alltogether. But I won't accept he was a mismatch prior to Barca and bayern hiring him.

Simeone has only parked the bus in few occasions. He took us to the cleaners twice (super cup and UCL at the bridge), battered barcelona in the UCL. generally he plays significantly better brand of football and he's tactically light years ahead of the current version of jose. He also doesn't need a gigantic budget in order to be competitive.

This is precisely why we will never become a dominant team like barca and bayern. Success should be a bye product of your philosophy/identity. That is how you become a force to be reckoned with. The ajax and dutch teams of the 70's, barca post 2008, Bayern etc couldn't have achieved the level they reached by simply throwing everything together without a plan and focus. Their success was born out of having a clear identity which was perfectly implemented. As for the second paragraph. Its nothing more than wild speculations and football cliché. How can you predict what would have happened with absolute certainty?. Our chances of winning instantly with those players under a more compatible manager is no weaker statistically than that of doing so with a mourinho who by the way didn't achieve success immediately either. Took him two seasons sonkind of a moot point
-
Bayern's identity is a combination of fast paced attacking football and possession football, transition of youth into the first team etc. A more refined version of united pre moyes if you will and guardiola even despite his more patient approach (tiki taka)is not a complete misfit like mourinho was to Chelsea's initial objective. For example Bayern will never hire a manager that rarely/never promotes youth, plays dull unimaginative football and parks the bus in majority of the big games because it goes against their identity. When/if guardiola leaves, I'm willing to bet they won't replace him with someone like mourinho.
-
No. The point of his post is that a well defined and implemented identity is what gives a club stability and not necessarily the ability to retain the same manager for many years. A good example of how the board have contributed greatly to our lack of identity is how they invested tons into the academy and youth players with the promise of one day producing first team players out of the crop and changing the style of play for more attacking and expansive one and that was reflected in the type of players we were buying but then what did they did the most confusing thing ever by employing a manager who is the very opposite of what the club is aiming to achieve to oversee the project. That's just poor planning and implementation of policy.they are all over the place with what it is they really aim to achieve. You will never see well run clubs with an identity like Bayern and barca buy players and hire managers who go against the clubs policy/identity. The decisions from which manager to hire to which players to buy etc are done with great levelnof purpose at these clubs.
-
Why. we have the greatest manager in the world in charge. didn't you know.
-
Well cordinated attacking football at its finest. Utd are self capitulating here.
-
We are not seeing the evidence.
-
How is "keep mourinho in charge" crowd, derogatory?. You are just clutching at straws and you know it. That statement is no different than saying those who are in favor of the club keeping jose as manager but carry on.BTW we are still waiting for a solid counter argument to blue color sky and peace posts.
-
And as expected the "keep mourinho in charge" crowd have ignored bluecolorsky and peace excellent post in the last two pages. I will love to see your response to those two posts in particular.
-
A shadow of his former self as a manager and an absolutely terrible, sulky personality who never takes responsibilities for his failures, unrepentant and stubborn, rude and crass etc. What's their not to love, There's no other manager I would rather have here for the long term. I'm starting a #keepjoseatthebridgefor10years campaign. Who's with me?
-
The things you see on this forum sometimes. greatest manager in the world, my ass.
-
Some would disagree.
-
I still cringe at all the posts blowing smokes up his arse and portraying him as such a key player and game changer for us and attributing our poor run of form to his absence. His thread was comedy gold after the Arsenal and tel aviv match.
-
PSG have a sound foundation, excellent core of players and a great attacking philosophy. their performance in Europe hasn't been bad at all either. I don't see why they would risk what they have for Mourinho. A manager who not only brings chaos and drama to every club he joins but also incapable of playing great free flowing and has shown sharp decline since he left inter milan. Also worth noting is his inability to maintain success at any club in the long run. They would be an idiot to hire Mourinho.
-
This man is a dreamer. The only top four we are getting if he's still in charge at the end of the season will be in these categories: goals conceded, defensive errors and misplaced passes.
-
Our worst start to a campaign for 37 years. Nothing more needs to be said.
-
We can't defend, we can't attack and we can't keep posession. How is this even possible. I will not be surprised to wake up to the news of Jose's sacking in the morning. damage control is urgently needed.
-
Should we still wait till the end of the season to fire him? You must be joking.
-
hahahahahha if you don't laugh, you will cry.
-
Roman please end this misery now.
-
-
Ivanovic at it again. The ref sees that and it's a so'to penalty.
-
Lucky, fluky goals/freekick they said. At what point do we start giving Willian the credit for working on his finishing?
