  1. Can you see CR7 running and pressing against Liverpool for example like Havertz did well? Or any other world class opponent?
  2. Ronaldo against teams in the bottom half or ones that can’t defend would feast in our team. Ronaldo against everyone else would probably be an active burden who the rest of the players around him would have to carry. Would Tuchel go for that? Is that gamble he’d take? I don’t think so.
  3. Why couldn’t we have the right players who were also in early? Like all of our rivals do? The club deserve a bit of leeway due to the extraordinary ownership/board situation, but even then everyone expected at least 1 or 2 in by now.
  4. Fair. But neither of those players will go straight into our first XI which is what we desperately need. Gallagher and Broja (maybe, if he isn’t sold) will be highly valuable squad players but they don’t elevate our best XI.
  5. No, but it is the end of summer holidays for players and they’re now back in training. So while City will have Haaland, Alvarez, Phillips etc, Arsenal will have Jesus, Viera, etc, Spuds will have Perisic, Bissouma, Richarlison, etc in training bedding in with their new clubs and working with their new teammates and managers, Thomas Tuchel will be waiting around for who knows how much longer with no new faces. Every club will be much further along in their preparation than we will if we don’t hurry up.
  6. It’s madness. We were THE club that was getting the most hype about how active we’d be this window and how much we were going to spend. And we’re now the ONLY Big 6 club that hasn’t signed anyone. Insane.
  7. Rice will be a Chelsea player this time next season. No point in signing the inferior version of him.
  8. I’m firmly in the “take a punt on Neymar” camp now. Other wide options have evaporated. If we can land our defensive targets I think we’d have a strong and hard working enough team around him to take a chance on him. I think his poorer form of late is more down to lack of motivation than diminishing ability. He’s only 30, not 35. No thanks to CR7 unless Tuchel himself is keen. If it’s entirely Boehly led for commercial reasons then we have problems.
  9. Just can’t imagine Tuchel wanting to go from Havertz up top who runs his socks off and works for the team to CR7 who doesn’t. And as United learned last season, when you have 37 year old CR7 you’re basically forced to start him every single league or CL match no matter how poor his form may be or how bad of a match up it is. Otherwise it’s a massive controversy. Unless we get desperate and miss out on every other attacking target I don’t think the club will invite that kind of drama. All that being said, the thought of James, Chilly, Sterling and whoever else linking up with the greatest ever goal scorer makes me curious. He scored a good amount last season in a horrendous United side, so how would he look with actual ballers around him?
  10. Yep. But things are starting to get real now with players returning to training. I think every club wants to start getting their targets in quickly now. Even the slow and incompetent United are about to announce their first signing tomorrow with that Malacia guy.
  11. Surely, SURELY there will be incoming activity this week. There has to be. I think 2 will come in finally. Sterling & one other.
  12. Think the club have enough sense to not make Aké our first announced signing. Think it’ll be Sterling. Perhaps they’ll announce both at the same time.
  13. Would be the ultimate embarrassment if we hand City money to buy our #1 CB target by taking their 4th choice one.
  14. Imagine believing that. As if an American billionaire who knows jack shit about football would call up an 18 year old footballer and speak with him.
  15. Bet you they won’t even have short term success either. Real Madrid will own LaLiga for the foreseeable future with the side they’ve assembled. Barca won’t touch them next season even with Lewa up top. And their defense and midfield are far too weak to do serious damage in the CL. They’re basically just doing all of this to appease their supporters with shiny toys.
  16. Yep. Like I said yesterday, I bet you anything that within the couple of years they’re going to be in deep shit once again. But next time instead of being forced to let go of Messi they’ll have to sell off they’re prized jewel youngsters. They’re one of, if not the worst transfer market club in the world.
  17. Feels like De Ligt is the one target that we need to be quickest about. As in before we give City a bunch of money or United miss out on that dude from Ajax and turn their attention to De Ligt. He may not be the best player we sign this summer but he is probably the most important if we pull it off. Could anchor our defensive unit for a decade.
  18. Antony will flop in the PL. Mark my words. I actually hope United buy him for some silly fee.
  19. Worse yet, imagine turning down more money and a better team (in Raphinha’s case) or straight up taking a massive pay cut to stay (in Dembele’s case). Just our shit luck that two of our biggest targets are so in love with Barca that they’ll accept worse terms to be there.
  20. If J5 goes to Juve for De Ligt, maybe. Otherwise there’s no room for him.
  21. I don’t think Tuchel would ask for it and I think Boehly being a brand new owner won’t force any signing on him. Neymar I can kind of see. CR7, no. If he was 5 years younger perhaps.
  22. Bayern would suit CR7 perfectly. Bayern will piss the league as usual and he’ll put up monster goal scoring stats (which is what matters to him most) just like Lewa does. They would also have n excellent chance at adding to his CL legacy. He could extend his career by 3 more top years in Germany. Thing is, he’s not a Bayern sort of buy.
  23. Yeah, I see the CR7 rumors are simmering again like 2 weeks ago. Apparently being reported by Duncan Castles as well who is pretty much a direct Jorge Mendes mouthpiece. It’s almost unimaginable for me to think Tuchel himself would want a 38 year old striker who doesn’t work or run for the team. Someone who brings the kind of circus he does. Someone who you’re pretty much forced to play every match despite how poor he is because otherwise he’ll pout and cause friction.
  24. None of these players other than Gnabry would excite me personally. None of the others are near the level of Raphinha or Dembele at this moment. Bowen is very promising but as usual dealing with WH would be impossible. We need attackers that are CLEAR upgrades on what we had last season, not risks or young talents. The likes of Antony, Diaby, Olise etc I can easily see flopping just like Ziyech or Werner.
