There’s not even a Sancho “link.” It’s just CFCPys on Twitter last night saying he fancies trying to get him. He’s one of the highest earners in the league so I think he’s a total nonstarter for our board. I always get a laugh when after pretty much every Mudryk appearance for us his thread on RedCafe blows up with people clowning on him when United themselves have 2 of the biggest wide attacker busts in PL history at their club at the same time in Antony and Sancho. Who not only cost more than Mudryk but are also on triple his wages. The Sancho at Dortmund would be the perfect profile of wide attacker we need. But there’s no way he’s worth the huge cost in fee and wages now. As for Eze, Palace fans were saying when we were linked with Olise that Eze was the actual gem of their team. So if Palace refused to sell Olise it would be even more impossible to get them to sell him. Especially with mere days left in the window. Honestly, I don’t really even rate him that highly anyway.

Think he said a “PL ready” player. Not necessarily someone who is or has actually been in the PL. Probably doesn’t want another situation where it takes a player months to get up to speed with the pace and physicality of this league.

At this point my only hope is that when the name of the player we try to sign is revealed at some point this coming week I’m not asking “who?!” Or worse, we try to get someone who’s well known but super underwhelming. We need a legit difference maker for our attack. Not just a body to make up the numbers. Like, if we decide to get into a bidding war with the Tater Tots for Brennan Johnson and wind up paying £50m for him that would be extremely stupid and embarrassing.

United and Liverpool have been dogshit for the majority of all their matches so far and yet sit on 7 points. United especially have been horrendous in all 3 matches. It’s super annoying that almost every single time we make errors they lead to goals and losses yet United and Liverpool can play like shit, make schoolboy errors, and even go down to 10 men and the other teams choke and lose. Just have to hope they start getting punished over the season for their subpar performances.

Worst loss of the season this. And now probably going to catapult Liverpool’s season. They were dead and buried in the first half, ffs.

Said before the season even started that Newcastle will fade the later we get into the season. Their first XI is very good and this early in the season they will be super strong. But their squad depth and inexperience will haunt them as the season goes on and the UCL/FA Cup fixture pile up starts.

And unfortunately for them (but hilariously for us and all their rivals) they don’t have an ownership that will spend mega money to rebuild them quickly. Their rebuild within the next couple of years is going to be painful and LONG.

Liverpool’s attack is still packed with high quality, but they have some BIG decisions coming up soon. VVD and Robertson are nowhere near the players they were 3 years ago. Trent is a complete defensive liability and doesn’t even look great in attack anymore. They haven’t adequately replaced Fabinho yet. Salah apparently may want out. That’s a huge part of their core gone or fallen off. That’s why I thought it was INSANE when you had all the Liverpool fans and so many pundits thinking Liverpool were the more attractive long term project for Caicedo and Lavia compared to us. In 2-3 years their best players will be in their mid 30’s whilst ours won’t even be in their primes yet.

Liverpool gonna have to panic buy a LCB this week! 🤣🤣🤣 Never seen them meltdown like this as a team under Klopp. They’re all over the shop from front to back.

Even with Endo now in there Liverpool’s midfield is getting completely overwhelmed by Newcastle. This is why I’m absolutely delighted that we secured BOTH Caicedo and Lavia. For when we go up against very good sides who play with 3 in the middle like Newcastle. Now (assuming Poch actually uses the formation) we can match teams with our own 3.

I just figured that post-COVID everyone other than the very biggest clubs and especially ones outside of the PL were hurting financially.

I didn’t realize he had such a massive price on his head. Are German clubs outside or Bayern and Dortmund really in position to turn down £45-50m for their players?

The one AM you forgot here is the one I’d love at this point and that Wirtz who looks to be past his bad injury.

You would think Liverpool would refuse for sure. But what if Mo pushes really hard to go? That makes it very tough.

Liverpool are in a world of hurt without Salah this season. Still have plenty of quality in their attack but nobody who truly terrifies entire defenses by themself like Mo Salah does.

Was just watching Younes’s latest YT video about our potential transfers and agree with him that the club must have something completely unexpected and secret planned. And it’s kinda crazy that nobody knows what or who we’re targeting. Every attacking player we’ve been linked with looks off the table now: Kudus —-> done to WH Balogun —-> done to Monaco Doku —-> done to City Cherki -—> Lyon are adamant that he must be kept Barcola —-> priority target for PSG and apparently really fancies going there Johnson —-> likely and thankfully going to Spuds There haven’t been any genuine links to anyone else. I’m starting to think that there’s a greater than 0% chance that we bring João Felix back. He now knows the league, knows our club, won’t need settling in time. The club may think he’s worth another chance in a more structured setup and under a better manager.

Thank goodness it looks like we aren’t going to get Brennan Johnson and that Spuds are going to spunk huge money on him instead. I’m sure he’ll be a decent player for them but he would be a gigantic overpay for us.

We better under no circumstances sell or loan Maatsen after we already let Hall go. We should be giving him a LOT of minutes this season at LB just like Gusto rotating with Reece. He was amazing in the role for Burnley and can be so for us as well. If the club got rid of him and kept Cucu I’d be 10x angrier at that than letting Hall go to Newcastle.

I thought we only had 1 loan spot left if the Lukaku to Roma deal happens? If we then loaned Cucu what would happen with all the other deadwood/youngsters that need loaning?

Milan and Serie A are these players’ level. You can be slightly above average at a big PL club but in Italy these days you can then be a top star. Napoli are probably the only Italian team right now that would be genuinely competitive with the best PL sides. We battered Milan home and away while having our horror season last year. Perfect level for Pulisic, RLC, Tammy, Tomori, Lukaku etc. Chalobah should be pushing like mad to get a move to one of the Milan clubs. He’d be one of the league’s elite CB’s while here in the PL he’s merely decent.

Pretty much pointless drawing any definitive conclusions from YouTube highlights of goalkeepers but Petrović looks pretty damn impressive.

Weird how Poch has repeatedly said in public that he wants another attacking player and you don’t have any of the usual “in the know” reporters saying who that might be. To me that reinforces my prediction a few days ago that we will get someone totally out of nowhere that nobody was really linking us to. We’ll just get a Ornstein bomb randomly that we’ve agreed a deal with some club.

Don’t think they’ll have enough goals up top. Antonio runs himself into the ground every season and eventually loses steam badly. Also don’t think they have the quality depth to finish that high.

After our win yesterday I looked at the rest of the fixtures and knew there was no point watching any of them. It’s all big clubs vs small ones. Boring weekend overall.

This is absolutely not a weekend where it was at all likely any of our rivals would drop points. All of them playing minnows. Forest made it interesting early on but they are shockingly lacking in quality throughout their team.
