Her dream is to play DI soccer and its hard to walk away from a dream. We've told her no matter what college will happen with or without football. Part of me would love to see her play DI. The other part doesn't want to see her riddled with arthritis in her late 20s either. She's weighing the options because DI is still an option. Or maybe she'll become a girly girl, join a sorority and play intramurals. Still have a year to decide.

Argentina v Venezuela - linesman pulls out camera from his pocket, takes a pic of Messi, puts camera away. lol

Lukaku and Bertrand out of the UCL squad.

Does anybody have a link to the squad lists? Every time I try to search my computer freezes/ -
I kind of think of Meireles as a jack of all trades in the middle. He can play the various roles in the middle and has done so admirably with Porto, Portugal, and Liverpool. At Liverpool his attacking capabilities were used more than in Portugal.

The way I read it Lukaku can't play so it's not a matter of Kalou over Lukaku. I get the hostility though. Watching Kalou can be a frustrating prospect at times.

Thanks much and isn't that the truth. You don't wish it on anybody else but you wonder why you have some much "luck". Unfortunately I feel like an expert and not because I stayed at a Holiday Inn (lame commercials in the US). At first my daughter said she was done and wanted to hang up the boots. Now with each milestone the focus has geared toward playing again. "Did you see those sick cleats, I want those when I get back", "That Chelsea training top is sick (the sleeveless), I want that when I get back". The love for the game drives some to keep battling. I'm a soft touch for any player coming back from injury. Not blind though to the fact injuries take their toll and players come back differently. Some good as new, some never the same, some different but still able to play in different ways. C'mon Essien!

He also mentioned how it was deja vu. Isn't that the truth. My daughter had her second ACL surgery the same day as the Bison. I shared the blog with my daughter, her comment "I feel you Essien". While she's not doing physio work 10 am to 5 pm, she is doing PT or massage 5 days a week. It's a grind coming back from ACL surgery. Riding the bike is a milestone. Going up stairs is a milestone. Going down stairs is a milestone. Getting cleared to run is a HUGE milestone and it's not even running. More like a slow controlled walk/skip/jump at the beginning. Daughter is having a scope done in a week to clean out a cyclops lesion (scar tissue) on the first knee so everything will be ok to start "running" end of October. Hope to see them both back out on the pitch playing the game they love.

Don't you know in many cases that qualifies you to be on the pitch. Case in point Walcott: fast as hell, dumb as a rock.

Spain v Chile so Mata and Torres
-
I think he'll be a quality addition to the squad. He plays quicker than some current players. He looks to combine with other players and is very unselfish. I think some doubters will be pleasantly surprised by what he brings to the team. Looking forward to seeing him in blue.

5 assists.

Someone was asking about AVB not wanting Meireles at Porto. Listened to Duncan Castle on FSC and read a few Portugal websites about Meireles previous move and this latest one. Meireles had wanted to make a move to the PL for two years prior to AVB getting there. The timing was good for both player and team. Somebody said Meireles wasn't pushed, he jumped at the chance when teams started asking about him. This latest move has been in the work for 2 weeks once the Modric deal started to go nowhere (ok that'd be all summer). AVB reached out to Meireles and asked if he'd be interested in moving to Chelsea. The deal was worked on religiously by his agent for the last 5 hours of the transfer window. The last hiccup was Yossi leaving.
-
Well one thing for sure, it can't be any slower.
-
Having watched Meireles and Torres for 4 shorts months at LFC, they can play together and seem to have an understanding with each other. Something Torres and Frank don't seem to share. Meireles' agent was negotiating deal non-stop for last five hours before deadline. Yossi exit was one sticking point. Stupid scousers actually think the deal happened in the last 30 minutes.
-
FSC also said that Wenger talked to Yossi after the United thrashing on Sunday about a move.
-
Meireles giving Torres a relatively easy tap in. http://www.fernando9torres.com/index.php?s=multimedia&t=videos&c=10⊂=16&id=1039
-
He did. To give Torres credit that was a moment of sheer genius on that strike.

Kenny seemed to want an English identity to the team. Really strange because Meireles was played out of his normal central position a lot last year to accomodate Gerrard, Poulsen (!), and whatever other crazy thoughts Roy had. He still managed to have a very good season for them and was a LFC fan favorite.
-
Regarding players who didn't leave, was it because AVB didn't want them to leave or nobody would take them? What's done is done...for now.
-
@Portugoaldotnet (Portuguese football news in English): Meireles is a very underrated player IMO. Always does a solid job in central midfield, attacking, defending, or box-to-box.
-
Did anybody hear Gigi say there could still be confirmation on CFC players?
