All fair points but the big question remains: where can he improve? He has no pace, physically very weak especially for the position he is playing, technically I don't think he can improve much at this age. So do you think he will somehow hit better passes in his 2nd season or run faster? He will always be "exposed" because of pace. Thing is.. the bloke's been here for so long yet nobody really loves him or sees him as some kind of a legend even though he's won it all and been important at it too. People cared more about Fabregas than him for instance. I think Cahill lacks that charisma and leadership qualities, he was only appointed as captain because he is a big English centre-back, like the previous one we had. But we have to thank him for everything he's done and also he has to thank Chelsea for giving him such a great career at club level.

There is nothing wrong with Danny Drinkwater, he is a solid Premier League player who has been playing for a few decent sides. Not good enough to start for us of course, but I can't see how he couldn't be a 6 month back up to Jorginho and play in the sort of matches that Fabregas played. This is a very poor coach if he needs 40M players on the bench for every position.

I consider Sarri a defensive coach too. He is defending by keeping the ball and passing it sideways all the time. Players have no freedom whatsoecer, apart from maybe Hazard.
