Hull boss Phil Brown has led calls for Premier League players at the Africa Cup of Nations to return to the UK after the Togo bus came under gunfire. The coach driver was killed in Friday's attack in Angola, while two Togo players were also shot and injured. Hull's Gabon striker Daniel Cousin and Nigerian midfielder Seyi Olofinjana are among 31 Premier League players in Africa for the tournament. And Brown told The Sun: "I have two players on duty and I want them home." Defender Serge Akakpo and reserve goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilale were hit in the sustained attack while several other players required hospital treatment and were later seen with bandages on legs, hands and faces. Togo captain and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who was on the coach but escapeed unharmed, says the team is considering whether to withdraw from the tournament, although organisers insist the competition, which begins on Sunday when host nation Angola play Mali, will go on. But Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, who does not have any players at the tournament, said: "It's frightening. It's worth considering calling the whole thing off. We can't just sit around and wait for the next shooting." Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill expressed his shock at the incident but was relieved his midfielder Moustapha Salifou was not among the injured. "The club have been in contact with him and he has reassured us that he is OK but he is extremely shocked and upset, which he would be in these circumstances." Portsmouth have four players at the tournament and club spokesman Gary Double said they had sought reassurance from the English Football Association and world governing body Fifa about their players' security. "Our players' safety is paramount and if that can't be guaranteed the players should be sent home," he said. Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor said Premier League clubs should not be able to dictate whether their players were sent home. He told BBC Radio 5 live: "Bearing in mind what has happened, for English clubs to expect players to come home from any other team apart from Togo would be too far. "It's a decision to be taken by the clubs but that could be in conflict with the African Confederation and Fifa and that is the dilemma of the day, not just in sport, but in many other issues regarding terrorism. "Do we try to continue life as normally as possible in order to win on the day? "We need to know the whole circumstances and have a proper inquiry, but you can understand clubs asking for players to come home after such an incident. "Remember, the driver was killed and the players were under gunfire for half an hour. It doesn't get any more serious than that. "Clubs release their players under Fifa regulations but they have every right to expect that the security issues and safety is going to be paramount and if that is not the case, they have a serious reason to withdraw them." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8449787.stm Not only that but surley the family of the players are gana be worrying from now and until they're home. And the players in that matter knowing whats gone on and that someone in fact has died

He's probably come to the conclusion that in fact this young team yada yada and bringing players in through the acadmeies rather then splasihing out aint worked and instead they stay a few seasons then bog off Like Jose said years back all he does is talk Chelsea and he werent wrong then and he still aint now

On the plus side should Arsenal game go ahead then we have a game in hand as wel But guess not only that but if it starts blizzarding and then massess of people gotta get back down to London and like said getting out a ground at the best of times is hard never mind with the ice and so on -
Least the FA Cup is run by people who dont seem to hate us!! Jesus christ if we arent barred from this for this reason be a case of 'you bein with the letter C your out.We get it..Platini you hate English Clubs!! And I hope we/any English team win the CL (prob not think this should we be the loosing team) just to wipe the smug smile of his face that he had on it last year when Barcalona won

They'll probably decide it'll go ahead then come Friday night lots of snow!
-
Its on the telly so hmm.Saying that though the Carling Cup games were due to be on telly and cancelled. If it snows Friday night/Saturday night can see it being cancelled for the same reason the other 3 games have been safety and all.And looks to be meant to snow again up North so its possible..and should it go ahead hope for all the fans who gone up there that we win!
-

Agree!!! Mean look at us last year against Southend we were shocking!! Everything seemed to work.We were pretty much playing the way we had been until December came.Everyone was up for it and just all round great performance and so happy for Sturridge. And defintly towards the end so much confident, everyone kicking them from everywhere lol and a clean sheet Watford fans though hahah 'we're gana win 4-3'.. credit to their fans and all. Dont get who has the rights though is it just ITV at the mo?

Also seems a case of now because the Sheva situation went so wrong, seems everything now thinks its always going to be a case of any player whose old we bring in now is gana be crap.Which aint true. You could bring in a youngster and they can turn out not so great and all. But like said, dont care of the age tbh as long as they bring the form their had at the old club to Chelsea.Sheva way to much expecation and pressure and just didnt work out but yeh he did try!Didnt just kinda give up and all.Long as they yeh bring the form, try etc.Dont mind about age. -
Guess thats the whole feeling as well, buy someone old in a few years they'll retire even if they're only 26 or whatever and have obvious years ahead of them
-
I duno about this one..one sense wooo we can do but in another ahhh!!! Awww Watford was my first ever game at the Bridge so a repeat of 4-0 be nice!
-
I'd say go for it.Yeh we have young players but be better to ease them in rather then shove them stright in.And like said we may not be able to buy till Summer 2011 so least we have back up...because we're starting to come injury hit and you just know one of ours is no doubt gana get injured in Africa..just to be safe I'd say but I duno.Be of a hmm situation

Chelsea RELEASES LATEST FINANCIAL FIGURES Posted on: Wed 30 Dec 2009 Chelsea FC plc today (Wednesday) announced that as of its year end 2009 virtually all outstanding debt has been converted into equity and the company is now effectively debt free. The group also announced reduced losses for the fourth consecutive year. The group results reveal that following previous conversions of half of the debt, the remainder of the interest-free loans from the parent company, whose ultimate controlling party is Roman Abramovich, have been converted into equity making the group effectively debt free. This demonstrates the continuing commitment from the shareholder to the group. The results also show losses decreased by £21.3 million. And disciplined management of capital expenditure has reduced the cash spend from £107.4m down to £16.9m. Revenues remain stable despite the economic climate and reflect the strength of the team, its continued success and the attractiveness of the FA Premier League allied with the continued allegiance of our fans and commercial partners. The main figures: - Group turnover was down from £213.1m to £206.4m - Turnover was generally flat. The small year-on-year reduction reflects the front-loaded nature of certain sponsorship revenues - Loss for the financial year reduced from £65.7m to £44.4m - Remainder of shareholder debt of £340m was capitalised - Net capital expenditure reduced from £85.1m to £4.2m following the completion of major capital projects such as the training centre at Cobham - Cash outflow reduced from £107.4m to £16.9m Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said: 'The club's debt load has been reduced almost to nil in order to provide more long-term stability for the club. 'The reduction will also enable the club to comply with any regulations on debt levels which are being discussed by the football community.' Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay said: 'It is still our aim to be self-sufficient and we will achieve this by increasing our revenues as we continue to leverage off our brand. We are reducing our costs by controlling expenses, including salaries and wages.' The results include exceptional items of £12.6m related to compensation payments to a first team manager and three coaching staff. CFC

Exactly! One minute he decides to come out and at the last changes he mind leading to complete confusion and conceding.Thats his main problem.Aside from lack of confidence he seems to have been until this month we went through Novemeber without conceding so hey ho.Everyones having a blip at the mo just Cechs is being more highlighted
