Those 4 and 6 are combined figures from Chelsea and a few games for Anzhi before his transfer in late August, so in fact 3 of the assists are for the Russian team. Also, these are just the league numbers so it's 4 apps and 0 goals, 3 assists for Anzhi; 25 apps and 4 goals, 3 assists for CFC; total 29 apps and 4 goals, 6 assists.

That's what I meant though ... it's not the parrying, it's the parrying it straight back to where you don't want it go, instead of tipping it round the corner like Cech does, for example. To my mind it's the one big flaw in his game, but you're right in that it's something that could presumably be worked on and of course he has the advantage of having age on his side.

Is it fair to say that Cech's (mis)handling of crosses is as bad as Courtois' tendency to parry shots straight back into the danger area?

He drew 3.31 fouls per league game last season - by far the most of any other 'top' forward in Europe and actually more than the combined number for all our 4 forwards including Lukaku. Such a relief to know that when you play the ball up to him a) it will stick b )he'll draw a foul and alleviate pressure while possibly creating a scoring chance or c) he will run at the defence. I swear I'm 24 and losing hair because whenever we play the ball to any of our strikers it just comes straight back, like bouncing it off a wall.

I take strong objection to the implication that Muller isn't much of a 'footballer'. He reads the game better than anyone I've seen.

I ain't even mad; that was much closer to what I was looking for - pressing, combinations and movement. Second half was a bit wank but I could understand it because clearly the manager was trying out a different setup. Overall, Cesc has slotted right in (esp. at 8) and Matic looks fine, Oscar and Schurrle were sharp, DC was top class and I had fun watching. Good game(s).
