  1. I'd imagine Zhirkov on the left wing and Malouda in the midfield three. But I'd understand if Carlo just stuck Benayoun in midfield and kept the front trio unchanged.
  2. I'd take 2m for him. He's got Sturridge and Borini ahead of him and won't be getting game time unless we have a plague of injuries among the forward line. Good luck to him, hopefully he can make a success of himself at Wigan if this goes through.
  3. Didier is Top Drog for me. He's unbelievable.
  4. Bit harsh there. Hard not to feel a little insulted by that. Back on topic, at the end of the day, Kalou is a CFC player, and regardless of whether you love him or hate him, you've got to respect that fact. I'm not his biggest fan, and he has miles to go before he can command a regular first team starter's role, but when he does well, regardless of whether he scores a tap-in or a 30 yard screamer, he should be applauded and given credit to. I don't see people saying "Oh, it's just a tap-in" when Drogba or Lampard gets one. At the same time, let's not delude ourselves into thinking he's a super player, because he is not. He's a very useful player who does what is asked of him, and that is to run at defenders in the last few minutes of a game and try and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. Nothing more, nothing less. He keeps his head down and gets on with his job without moaning about, and I hugely respect him for that. And most of all, keep the personal attacks against other members as well as players out of your poss please. It's just sheer nonsense and unworthy of what I'm assuming are matured and responsible individuals who congregate on this forum to talk about the club they all love.
  5. Moyes has said he won't go. He's signed a new 5 year contract at the end of last season.
  6. Ah good game. Too bad it won't be on tv. Will have to catch a stream.
  7. Matthew Etherington? He's their best player. I wouldn't be averse to playing Essien at RB and starting with Ramires.
  8. Mate how would you have felt had Lampard gone on strike when Inter Milan wanted him 2 years back?
  9. Sigh when will they visit India? No chance I reckon.
  10. Seriously wtf is wrong with these players? Why are they going on strikes? It's not like they're made to work on minimal wages for 14 hours a day in dingy workshops with no fire escapes. They are such an indulged lot, these guys. They get the best of lifestyles, exorbitant wages, lucrative sponsorships et al. And what do they have to do in return? Turn up once a week and give their all for 90 mins in front of people who earn a fraction of what they do, yet spend some of it to watch them play. It's a disgrace. I'm not sure I would want this guy on my team if I were the manager. Today he is on strike because Chelsea want him, tomorrow he could strike while playing for us if say Real or Barca came for him. Attitude matters as much as ability and I wish this was recognised.
  11. GK is the only area we should be looking to strengthen if we are to make any new signings before the window closes. I had faith in Turnbull before the season started, but the bad pre-season is making me have second thoughts about him. I'd still take him over Hilario, but it's clear he isn't good enough be second choice to Cech. Delac has gone on loan as has Rhys Taylor and Sam Walker is too raw for the top level. Is Begovic the answer? I'm not sure. Everyone seems to think highly of him but I can't say I'm with them 'cos I haven't watched him play too much. There are hardly other decent 2nd choice GK options out there, especially when you consider that they would have to fill Big Pete's shoes.
  12. You misunderstood me completely. I was talking about people moaning about not giving youngsters chances and then once they are given chances (in this case, Bruma and PvA), the same people say we need squad depth cos if JT, Alex or Iva get injured, there's no experienced backup. When have i implied that Alex and Iva should be sold to give youth chances? In any case, how will the youngsters develop if they are not showered with faith and if they are not trusted to fill the gaps created by injury or suspension to experienced players? And why are you assuming that Alex will be injured for most of the season? That's a bizarre assumption to make. And even if he does get injured, we have Iva, Bruma and PvA who can play in that position, as can Essien if need be. You forget to mention Bosingwa, who will be starting RB once he returns from injury. Neither have you counted PvA who can cover both at CB and LB. In the worst case scenario, if Essien has to play RB/CB, we have Ramires so the midfield balance is maintained.
  13. He's not just a right-back is he? More like a right sided Zhirkov. if this is true, bye-bye Paulo.
  14. Mourinho needs a large budget to work. Not sure he'd get that at United what with their debt and all.
  15. Eh what's the deal with Milwall? Are their fans always looking for a scrap or something?
  16. I wouldn't be arsed to read another Neymar article. I'm sick of this crap. Neymar, do us a favour and rot in Santos. Then when you get bored, run off to LA Galaxy. And never, fucking ever, mention Chelsea again.
  17. First people moan about not promoting youngsters. Then when the youngsters get a chance, people are too skeptical about them and say we need more depth. Make up your mind ffs.
