On the whole, most times, I kind of feel sorry for referees. In the last 2 seasons, especially, they've taken a lot of stick from everyone.. Media, managers, players etc. The problem is, there's no kind of adequate learning going on. Yeah we know they have a mini-performance review kind of of a DVD where they review each decision. But certain referees get a reputation because they keep making the same mistakes and what we see is the FA bottling the calls to have them ref the lower league/bring through new referees who are more adapted to the modern game. Rules also need to be clarified by the FA. Like the 'last man back', 'two-footed challenge' & 'violent conduct' rule. Because these interpretations seem to be changing week in, week out which doesn't help their cause any better than it should.
