LOL It seems you believe this board do have a long term plan for "coming seasons". Mate, Lampard was appointed and the kids were introduced basically for 2 reasons: Sarri walked away and transfer ban happened. Lampard was the best choice for this season. With no new players coming and without a manager the best thing to do was to introduce kids and go after a club legend to make the fans happy and involved with the club during the season. Its a little optimistic to think that Lampard appointment and the use of academy is a product of a long term plan. I will go as far as saying that the likes of Mason Mount, Tomori, James and Abraham were not in the club plans for this season, and they are only involved in the first team because of the transfer ban.

Those days are long gone mate. In past 5 year we didn't fired more manager than other top european clubs, with few exceptions. Since 2015 we only fired two managers and only one of them was fired during the season, and Conte wasn't fired because of the results, but because he created a bad relationship with the board after the Diego Costa situation. Sarri wasn't fired, he decided to walk away.

Bullshit. There is no fucking way 6 teams in PL have better squads. Are you telling me Arsenal and Spurs have better squads? Are you suggesting Leicester squad is better? United squad is better? We have a squad that is at last as good as those teams. The idea that this squad is expected to finish 7th or even 10th is a bullshit that needs to stop.

Thats how football works. Managers come and go.

Kepa is a joke!
-
Just get Cavani.
-
Mount on the pitch. Both teams down to 10 men.
-
Before the goal the team was producing the best football of the season. Oddly after Arsenal went down to 10 men the team stopped playing and Arsenal looked like scoring. By the way, there is no way Mount should be starting games when Kova/Kanté/Jorginho os easily our best mid.
-
I Hope now Lampard will cut off his Mason Mount bullshit.
-
Fuck off.
-
The team improved after Barkley. Its a shame he came too late.
-
Mount off. There is hope in this world.
-
Mount is a poor man's Oscar. Barkley is a better player.
-
What Lampard must do: Mount off. Kova in. What Lampard will do: Jorginho and Odoi off. Barkley and Kova in. Mount will "play" 90 minutes.
-
Mount makes me angry.
-
Yes. He was my cult hero because of his hairdo.
-
Geez...I dont care about him anymore. So sad.
-
James, Tomori and my man Abraham are 20/22 years and are better than Mount. He is playing on a regular basis because Lampard will play him no matter what. For me he is like Oscar: great work rate, and thats It, but Oscar was a better footballer when he bad the ball, he was more skilled and had a better vision than Mount.

Mate, you are one of the oldest members in this forum and you probably remember that the likes of Oriol Romeu and Gael Kakuta were once considered the future of the club in this forum, and you will also remember that Mikel was once called here "midfield maestro", Matic was considered "a godlike midfielder" and Oscar was hyped to death and even Schurrle was considered the best player in 2014 WC by many. I would like to hear from you what you think about Mason Mount, because to be honest he is probably the most average starting XI I've seen playing for Chelsea since I started following the club in 2004, and the praise he gets from fans reminds me of the praise those players I mentioned received before.
-
Drogba had 9 seasons as a Chelsea player. This season Abraham scored more PL goals than Drogba did in 7 of those seasons.
-
Every player is being treated unfairly when he is sitting on the bench to give space to Mason Mount in the starting XI. Kovacic, Pulisic and Jorginho are the big victims here.
-
Why do you guys dont like Zaha? The dude is pretty good.
-
Last season it was Jorginho that drove me mad. This season is Mount. We started the decade with Essien, Ballack and Lampard in the midfield. We ended the season with Jorginho and Mason Mount. It sums up the whole decade in terms of squad quality regression.
-
The main objectives this season are getting a top 4 finish and making some progress in the squad building. Right now the team is in 4th, 5 points in front of 5th placed team, and Frank introduced Abraham, Tomori and James into the team. I would say Lampard job at the moment is pretty solid, but things might change as the season progress, since I think finishing top 4 is mandatory. To other side there are many flaws in his job: its not hard to see the midfield/attack should be Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Pulisic, William, Abraham. This should be the core team, but right now it seems he wants to build a team around Mount. Every game is Mount+10. Mount is also the biggest flaw in his managerial skills, I mean, anyone who thinks Mount is "essential" for this team doesn't have any clue about the game. Mount is by far the roughest of the players coming from the academy. The kid has fundamental problems in his games: his finishing is abysmal, his passing is weak, his decision making when he has the ball on his feet make William looks a world beater, he is useless in set pieces, he can't dribble. He might become great one day, but he doesn't deserve the amount of playing time Lampard is giving him.

What is "The Athletic"? They seem to have some quality stuff.
