  1. Yes we did. We could've bought Aguero, Dzeko or Cavani, but they went for Torres because Ancelotti wanted him.
  2. Lol, the way some people portray Falcao as some sort of super hero. Of course Atletico won't win the La Liga.
  3. Not captain material because he's trying to win a game. Right.
  4. A push because he, and everyone who was a CFC fan watching that was frustrated, does not result in me changing my opinion that Luiz would be good captain material. Not enough evidence for me sorry.
  5. Oscar was immense today. Such a shame, I can't believe this happened to us today. I fucking hate United.
  6. We don't have to bomb Cole and Ivanovic forward as United have given us the platform to play through the middle with their weak central midfield. Can you imagine Cleverley and Carrick trying to deal with Ramires, Mikel, Hazard, Oscar and Mata?
  7. Looks like a 4-4-2 from United. Possible switching to a 4-2-3-1 to match us with Rooney dropping in behind RVP. Cleverly and Carrick in midfield... We should really win this. United are actually giving us the platform to play through the middle.
  8. More eager to see United's starting line up than ours to be honest. It's quite predictable what we're going to put out.
  9. If you watch Sturridge's goals last season, they are a lot more elaborate than just taking on the full back an scoring. Sturridge has great movement, you'll see that a lot of his goals last season were tap ins rather than taking on the full back and scoring. He gets himself into excellent positions which obviously allow him to score. You can tell that facing 2 centre backs won't be as big of a problem as you're trying to make it out to be for him. Majority of his goals at Bolton weren't flick ons from KD either. Go watch his goals at Bolton and you'll see that. It's unfair to say Sturridge isn't able to play as a lone striker when no one has actually seen him there consistently. Sturridge has done it before, albeit at reserve level, but he definitely has. Look at the video below where he actually scores a lot of goals in one reserve game as a lone striker (5!)... The guy's a natural goal getter, regardless if he plays off one or regardless if he plays upfront on his own. I believe he can do it.
  10. Also, Oscar doesn't have the passing repertoire Pirlo has. Very few do.
  11. A lot of people are saying that in hindsight they would've preferred Cavani or Falcao, but neither at the time were as hot as they are now. Just go to the start of this thread and you'd see how many were elated by this signing.
  12. Lukaku was bought for an initial £12m, some sources even say it was €12m. The 18 is the final fee after some clauses are met.
  13. Can anyone truthfully say they weren't excited by the Torres transfer? Can anyone truthfully say that at the time, if we had the choice of signing Torres, Falcao or Cavani, they would've picked any of the latter two? I don't think so.
  14. Exactly why I think Benzema would thrive here more so than Falcao. AGAIN I'm not saying Benzema is better than Falcao I'm just pointing out that he'd be a better fit.
  15. I have read your posts. And if you read mine I'm not calling you naive per se, it was more of a message to the general crowd. For example there are some people on here who would be happier about us signing Falcao than us winning the CL last season which is ridiculous. People are saying Dzeko or Villa over Falcao not only for money reasons, but also others e.g. squad harmony. Can you really see us having two £50m strikers in the team? I don't think so. And like I said in my above post, just because people would want Dzeko or Villa over Falcao doesn't mean they're saying that they are better players than him. Just that singing either one would be more realistic at this point especially given Falcao's price. Yes, it's Roman's money, but we've spent close to £90m this season already. Realistically, you wouldn't think or expect that we're getting Falcao for £50m. Especially in January. Especially whilst we're exceeding expectations right now by being top of the league. Especially whilst Torres is still in the squad. FFP? There are a lot of factors which points to us not signing him in January like most of you are expecting us to do. I can see people being angry and calling the board terrible after the January Transfer Window passing without us signing Falcao. I'll just point out and say it was unrealistic from the get go, so I won't be disappointed unlike others.
  16. Stop trying to portray it that way. No one has said Villa or Dzeko are better players, they've mostly said that they'd prefer them for various reasons, the main one being their prices. No one said Falcao is a one trick pony either, but to see that over 50% of his goals at Atletico were headers speaks volumes. You're naive if you don't think that one of Falcao's main strengths are his movement in the area and his aerial prowess and you're naive if you don't think Atletico are set up in a way which takes full advantage of that. Atletico play with tons of width. We don't. Obviously he'll still score, but we'd be ignoring one of his main strengths. Falcao thrives on wide play. If we're going to play our 3 amigos behind him it'd be very narrow as usual, and to get the best of Falcao, Hazard and Mata would have to sacrifice their usual game. Not sure I want to see that.
  17. I rather meant the team that's the most clinical on the day.
  18. You're using FIFA 13 ratings to justify that a player is better than another now? That's ludicrous. You obviously just have pure hate for Mikel. My Man Utd mate recently said Mikel would walk into their midfield. Go figure. You're the only person on this forum that won't acknowledge that Mikel is actually a good player, but oh well. You obviously just have a hate for him. Mikel has been much more influential to his team that Tiote has been this season. I ask you again, if Mikel is so terrible, then why haven't our management staff flogged him off then? He's been here for ages and he's made a lot of appearances, doesn't that tell you he's at least a decent player? RDM must be a terrible manager to still keep starting Mikel. He must also be terrible for not vividly looking for a replacement last summer. Our whole management are toads for keeping Mikel in the team because he's clearly the reason why we perform so bad (even though we're top of the league).
  19. This is exactly it. Lets hope the goals go our way, the team who's the most clinical will win.
