I'd rather Thiago Silva for a year, on a free, than who we've currently been linked with. It is bar none the most sensible decision that at the very least improves our back line.

Are you serious? For one, his IQ as a central defender is miles above anyone we currently have. He's experienced, can play out of the back, great at set pieces, and most importantly, he's composed. He has all the qualities our current CB's lack. He would not only be a good short fix, but this would free up funds for a GK and LB. Genuinely mystifying there a sum that would be against this

How is it a gamble? We'll have an experienced CB, on a free, to partner our current CB's who are in desperate need of a leader. This will fix our CB issue whilst we focus on bringing Havertz in.

The board also are probably aligned with Lampard's vision. Focus on attacking threat and having enough quality to close games out, then worry about the defence. There were so many points dropped last season given we didn't have the quality to end the game. Werner, Havertz, Pulisic and Ziyech will have every team scared.
