Wolves to file complaint after Hwang the target of alleged racist remark https://www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/wolves-file-complaint-after-hwang-target-alleged-racist-remark-2024-07-16/ July 16 (Reuters) - Wolverhampton Wanderers said they will file a complaint with UEFA after their South Korean forward Hwang Hee-chan was the target of an alleged racial remark during Monday's pre-season match against Italian side Como 1907. Hwang reported the incident midway through the second half, which led to an angry response from his teammates and saw Daniel Podence sent off for punching a Como player, the midlands club said. Como did not respond immediately to a request for comment outside normal business hours. Wolves manager Gary O'Neil said he had asked Hwang if he wanted the match to be abandoned or to be substituted but the 28-year-old wanted the game to continue. Wolves won 1-0 at their training camp in Marbella, Spain. "Channy (Hwang) will be OK. He’ll get our full support and we’ll pick him up in the morning and make sure he’s OK. It’s a together group," the manager added.

  4. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5619869/2024/07/09/arsenal-transfer-latest-manchester-united/ snip On the academy front, Chelsea do not want to sell attacking midfielder Alex Matos and will look to send him on a season-long loan. Several clubs have expressed an interest in borrowing the 19-year-old for 2024-25, including some in the Championship, where he spent the second half of the last campaign with Huddersfield Town, but also in France’s Ligue 1 and the German Bundesliga. Another leading under-21s prospect, 19-year-old midfielder Leo Castledine, is the subject of enquiries from clubs in the second-tier Championship and League One, the third division of English football. over a season-long loan.

  6. https://www.justarsenal.com/fabrizio-updates-arsenal-fans-on-why-the-calafiori-deal-is-taking-so-long/371315 snip Today Fabrizio Romano has given us an update on where Arsenal are in relation to finalizing the deal for Riccardo Calafiori Speaking on his YouTube channel about the situation ,Romano has said that there are still disagreements between Bologna and Arsenal when it comes to the fee. “On Calafiori, it’s really important to clarify that the negotiation is still ongoing between Bologna and Arsenal. And the point is, how to pay the fee,” Romano said. “Because Bologna for Calafiori want 50m Euros, sell on clause and guaranteed money money, with no add-ons, while Arsenal insist on paying with add-ons as part of the structure. “Arsenal don’t want to pay 50m Euros immediately but want to include part of this deal in add-ons. So this is the negotiation. “I can guarantee that Riccardo Calafiori, who is on holiday, only wants Arsenal. He is obsessed with Arsenal and is looking forward to working with them.”
  7. How fucking stupid are they? Angola is a Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) former colony of PORTUGAL, not France. Nigeria is an Anglophone former BRITISH colony, not French. Cambodia is a Francophone former colony of France, so at least there is a tie-in, BUT how many fucking Cambodian footballers play for the French Sr team?
  8. New UEFA Club Coefficients are out UEFA, the governing body of European football, have confirmed the annual club standings — which influence seedings in draws for its club competitions — for the 2024-25 campaign. It is determined using a point-based system over a rolling five-year period, with points dependent on the club’s performances in continental competitions which are measured using a weighted algorithm. The rankings for the 2024-25 season are based on accumulated coefficient in European competition from the 2020-21 campaign onwards. A club’s five-season coefficient is determined by either the cumulative sum of its points in the five-year period or by 20 per cent of its association’s coefficient over the same period, whichever tally is higher. 13. now THIS I would be over the moon about, but it is likely never going to happen ‘Extraordinary’ Bayern Munich player Mathys Tel could look to leave club amid Chelsea interest https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/transfer-news/extraordinary-bayern-munich-player-could-look-to-leave-club-amid-Chelsea-interest/ Chelsea could have a good chance to sign one player from Bayern Munich who they are said to be looking at. It has been a busy transfer window for Chelsea so far. This summer, the Blues have managed to bring in the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Tosin Adarabioyo. However, Chelsea have not really improved their attack yet, with most of their signings being midfield and defensive ones. They have brought in Marc Guiu, but he could join Sevilla on loan. With the transfer window still open, though, there is still time for them to act and land a new attacker like one star from Bayern. Bayern Munich signing forward could push player closer to Chelsea Bayern have signed Joao Palhinha and Michael Olise and like with Chelsea, there is also plenty of time left for them to add more players to their ranks. Doing so, though, could impact the future of one member currently in Vincent Kompany’s squad. Journalist Simon Phillips has shared that his sources believe that Mathys Tel could decide to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, depending on who else arrives. On his Substack, he wrote: “Mathys Tel of Bayern is still very much ‘still one to watch’ right now according to SPTC sources. They believe that he could look to leave the club, depending on who Bayern sign in. It might be one that develops.” According to Phillips, Tel is a name that Chelsea have discussed signing internally. Tel can play as a striker or winger, positions Chelsea have been looking to strengthen during this transfer window. The Frenchman is also 19, so he fits the Blues’ transfer strategy, which has seen them sign a lot of young players recently. At that age, Tel obviously has a lot of potential. “He does extraordinary things,” Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has been quoted as saying when discussing his compatriot.
