Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and AC Milan’s Alvaro Morata are two strikers in “crisis” ahead of tomorrow’s derby clash. https://sempreinter.com/2024/09/21/lautaro-martinez-alvaro-morata-strikers-crisis-milan-derby/ This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews. Inter and Milan both certainly boast plenty of firepower in tomorrow’s first Serie A derby of the season. For the Nerazzurri, French striker Marcus Thuram got the season off to a blazing start with four goals to date. Then, there have been goals from the likes of wingbacks Matteo Darmian and Denzel Dumfries. And midfielder Nicolo Barella scored a genuine goal-of-the-season contender against Atalanta. Milan, meanwhile, have gotten three goals out of US international winger Christian Pulisic already. Meanwhile, Rafael Leao has shown his undeniable quality with his goal against Lazio. And then, other forward players like Tammy Abraham and Noah Okafor have managed to find the back of the net for the Rossoneri. But Inter and Milan have not been able to rely on goals from their main men up top. At least to date. If there has been a major fault in Inter’s season to date, it has been a lack of a clinical edge in the final third. That was on show against Monza last weekend, when the Nerazzurri spurned all of their best chances in the first half. And even against Manchester City during the week in what was undeniably a strong performance and a good result, the Nerazzurri were not able to make the most of their counterattacking chances. The fact that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has not scored a goal yet is a big part of the reason for that. The Argentine had been relentlessly consistent in front of goal for much of last season. That made Martinez the bedrock of Inter’s goalscoring potential. But this time around, Martinez has yet to score or assist a single goal. Meanwhile, former Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea striker Morata has yet to score a goal for Milan after completing his summer transfer. The Rossoneri will be hoping that Morata can find his edge in the penalty area soon.

Angry West Ham star Edson Alvarez 'threatened to kill' Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez during London derby spat https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13877263/Angry-West-Ham-star-Edson-Alvarez-threatened-kill-Chelseas-Enzo-Fernandez-London-derby-spat.html West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez reportedly threatened to kill Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez during Saturday's London derby. Chelsea won the game 3-0 with all of the goals coming before the 48th minute. Seemingly angry with the way the game was going, Alvarez fouled Cole Palmer shortly after the Englishman had scored Chelsea's third goal. The Mexican was shown a yellow card by referee Samuel Barrott but the drama did not end there. Moments later, Alvarez was seen shouting something at Argentina international Fernandez while secretively covering his mouth. However, despite Alvarez covering his mouth, some of his words were picked up by the pitchside microphones. According to Argentine daily newspaper OLE, Alvarez told Fernandez: 'I'll wait for you... I'll kill you outside, wherever you want.' Fernandez did not appear overly worried by this alleged threat and he defiantly responded by patting Alvarez on the back and telling him: 'Go ahead'. Perhaps sensing that he was at risk of losing his cool and being shown a red card, Hammers manager Julen Lopetegui subbed Alvarez off five minutes after his booking. Fernandez stayed on the field until the 84th minute when he was replaced by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Inter Milan keen on Ben Chilwell Inter Milan are interested in acquiring the services of Chelsea outcast Ben Chilwell when the window reopens in January. https://thehardtackle.com/transfer-news/2024/09/22/inter-milan-keen-on-ben-chilwell/#google_vignette According to a report from Interlive, Inter Milan could look at Ben Chilwell as an option to reinforce their backline during the winter transfer window. While they are well covered at left-back, Simone Inzahgi’s team could look at the Chelsea outcast depending on how things unfold over the next months. Chilwell came up the ranks and made a name for himself while playing for Leicester City. His consistent performances for the Foxes resulted in a move to Chelsea in the summer of 2020. The Blues forked out around €50 million to acquire his services. However, the report states that he could be available for €25 million in January.
