not really the back 4 has issues potentially seeing as I am the resident perfectionist, lol here is what I do not like in terms of Shitty players they have only 4 CB's and two are shit Otamendi, I have called him shit for years, will never change my mind (he almost just blew the game now) only other CB is the horrific Eliaquim Mangala IF Mendy is hurt at LB, Oleksandr Zinchenko is not a really class replacement, (Angelino is even worse and I assume they sell him) which is why I am surprised they go for Cancelo (who is a RB) and not a LB (as I do not trust Mendy to stay fit) Alex Telles would be great for them, and I do understand Cancelo is word class and an huge upgrade from Danilo, but still that LB is an issue for me, as Zinchenko is more of drop off at LB than Dailo is at RB (or very close) that all said, they may use Walker at CB a lot, in which case Cancelo makes a tonne of sense, that would be my best guess I am surprised they didnt make a move for a great CB ( Marquinhos, who would be perfect and PSG now have 4 starting level CB's or Ruben Dias or even the best José Giménez, although he would be a crazy hard pull ) and also at least make a play for José Gayà or Telles or even Chilwell or Firpo (who they wanted last yer and went to Barca for only £22m) at LB. I guess Pep has faith in Zinchenko. they are fine everywhere else

Confirmed: Barcelona sign Junior Firpo from Real Betis https://www.101greatgoals.com/news/confirmed-barcelona-sign-junior-firpo-from-real-betis/ Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Junior Firpo from Real Betis on Sunday. Since making the step up to their senior squad, Firpo has featured 43 times for Betis, in which he has scored five and assisted seven. The 22-year-old is naturally a left-back, although he has also played 12 games as a central defender. Firpo is also a Spanish under-21 international. He will cost an initial €18m with another €7m being made up of add-ons.

No, I am arguing the actual length that is being discussed.

I am not panicking at all, I just think that we are talking about extending his contract to 2022, not 2021. 2022 with same wages makes his sale much more likely next summer. Try unloading a 32yo winger who is on, say £175K or so a week and who's contract expires in less than a year who is NOT named Messi or CR7.
-
Both Eden and Kante had multiple years left when their contracts (and hear is the key word) were renegotiated (and lengthened). Willian's contract expires in around 10 months, 3 weeks. They only way I can see him coming down and accepting a (what is in effect) 12 month extension plus wage re-do as if we are talking a massive salary increase. THAT fucks us hard in terms of selling him next summer. It basically means we will have a 31yo this year, and a 32yo next season who is on massive wages and is unsalable, THEN walks on a free in 2021. It is gross mismanagement yet again.
-
that was a massive pay raise as well. Willian is already on £120K per week (same as Drinkwater) maybe they will bump him up higher, but that will make him almost impossible to sell next summer, when he turns 32 almost every article I have seen for months is talking about an EXTENSION of two years IF we get him to accept a re-do and for it (a new '2 year contract') to end in 2021 then that is fine, as long as the wages do not explode if they do, we are going to be stuck with him and he will walk on a free in 2021 nightmare that we did not sell him for £65m last summer and upgrade with a better, younger player

I literally, whether in football or any other endeavour in life, have never heard of an announced two year contract that included a contracted year already existing, so in effect it is just a 1 year extension. If you could point me to such a deal, it would help your case. Multiple reports call it a 2 year extension, btw. Man Utd hero Patrice Evra reveals he threatened Ed Woodward back in 2014 https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1159611/Manchester-United-Patrice-Evra-Ed-Woodward-Juventus-transfer-news Manchester United hero Evra was primed to leave the club in 2014 after a dismal season under David Moyes. The former France international, who confirmed his retirement on Monday, had finished his contract and was expected to pursue a new challenge elsewhere. However, Evra then mysteriously signed on for a further year at United, with many expecting him to stay and act as mentor to Luke Shaw, who had touched down from Southampton earlier that summer. Yet the five-time Premier League winner has now revealed that it was Woodward who triggered the clause, despite the duo verballing agreeing he would depart the club. "Before the end of that season Ed told me: 'Patrice, you're going to stay for another year because we've got an option in your contract,' but I told him I needed to leave because of family reasons," he told Sky Sports. "He shook my hand and said he understood. "Then in May I was having dinner in Dubai on my birthday and had a text from my agent. "He told me to go somewhere quiet and sent me a message with the statement from United saying they were pleased to renew my contract for another year. I went mad, I was really disappointed. "I called Ed and swore on the phone, even threatened him. "He said I couldn't talk to the director of football like that and that he was going to fine me. "After that Ryan Giggs called and said I couldn't leave just because of one man, but it gave me an excuse to leave. "I'd already said to my wife we were going to leave, but inside I didn't ever really feel I could. That gave me a little push. "Some people won't understand why Ed did it but I understand. "Of the senior players I was the only one he wanted to keep - even David Moyes had said it before he got sacked. snip
-
I do not think that is correct. I read it as he will sign a new 2 year contract, meaning 2 years on top of this year. Why would they include an already contracted year into a statement? If he was only adding one more year onto this one, it would say that. I hope you are right and I am wrong.

Manchester City to launch moves for Bournemouth defender and Real Madrid attacker https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/isco-nathan-ake-manchester-city-real-madrid-bournemouth-launch-moves Manchester City are eyeing up moves for Real Madrid playmaker Isco and Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake in the final few days of the transfer window. According to the Daily Express, the Premeir League champions hope to land both players ahead of Thursday's deadline. Pep Guardiola has been tracking Isco all summer and could now take advantage of the fact that Madrid need to trim their wage bill. Meanwhile, City have turned their attention to Ake after deeming Harry Maguire, who is set to join Manchester United for £80m, to be too expensive. The Netherlands international is valued at around £40m by Bournemouth, for whom he impressed last season. snip

TRANSFER NEWS: REAL MADRID ENTER RACE FOR MANCHESTER UNITED AND TOTTENHAM TARGET BRUNO FERNANDES http://www.thehardtackle.com/news/2019/08/04/transfer-news-real-madrid-enter-race-for-manchester-united-and-tottenham-target-bruno-fernandes/ Real Madrid have reportedly joined Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Tottenham in the chase for Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes. According to a report from Portuguese publication Record, the chase for Sporting Lisbon captain Bruno Fernandes has further intensified as La Liga giants Real Madrid have joined Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the midfielder. Fernandes has been one of the hottest commodities of the ongoing summer transfer window after a sensational 2018-19 campaign with Sporting. The 25-year-old came up with a sensational return of 32 goals and 18 assists from 53 matches in all competitions, sparking widespread interest from several clubs across Europe. Manchester United have been chasing the Portuguese international’s signature all summer long. The Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on adding another creative presence to his midfield department to provide support for Paul Pogba, with the 24-year-old Fernandes emerging as the club’s key transfer target. Recent reports have even claimed that the 20-time English champions were close to getting their man. However, their attempt to sign Fernandes has been jeopardized by a late move by fellow Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, who are also intent on adding a new attacking midfielder to their ranks as they face the risk of losing star playmaker Christian Eriksen. This has led to manager Mauricio Pochettino to scour the market for a new addition to the squad to replace the Dane, with Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso emerging as a target. However, the Lilywhites now seem to have switched their attention towards Fernandes. Tottenham are believed to have met with Sporting’s officials in order to negotiate a potential deal to get Fernandes to North London. The report from Record claims that Spurs made an offer of €60 million for the midfielder, which was rejected by the Portuguese outfit, who value their captain at €70 million. With both Tottenham and Manchester United not willing to meet Sporting’s transfer fee demands for Fernandes, a window of opportunity has opened up for Real Madrid, who are also interested in signing the 25-year-old this summer, the report from Record adds. snip

Bristol City Join Everton, Burnley In Race For Chelsea Defender https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=33156 Bristol City are the latest club being linked with a summer move for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori. Bristol Post says Bristol City are in the market for a central defender following the sale of Adam Webster to Brighton & Hove and Tomori is among the players being considered. It would be difficult for the Robins to get the deal over the line as they face competition from Premier League clubs including Everton and Burnley. That said, Bristol City have a good relationship with Chelsea with Tammy Abraham spending the whole of the 2016-2017 season on loan at Ashton Gate. Doubts have started emerging over Tomori's future at Stamford Bridge after he was not handed a run-out in Chelsea's final pre-season fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening. The youngster shone for Derby County last season, winning the club's Player of Season award. snip
