FA Cup final: Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel bemoans 'decisive' VAR calls https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/57109878 Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel felt his side had done enough to win the FA Cup but "decisive" video assistant referee calls went against them. The Blues lost their second successive final as they were beaten 1-0 by Leicester courtesy of Youri Tielemans' stunning strike at Wembley. There was suggestion of a handball by Ayoze Perez in the build up but a VAR review deemed no infringement. "The players said straight away it was a handball," said Tuchel. "So now for the second game in a row there was a handball against us, and VAR is not interfering. "Against Arsenal there was one on the line, and again today, and they are very decisive. "I'm not an expert in handball any more, I don't know when it's handball or not. "I don't know any more when they need to punish it or it's OK to play with the hand." Chelsea also had a late equaliser chalked off when Ben Chilwell was judged to have been offside. Despite those disappointing moments, Tuchel was satisfied with the performance of his players overall. "We were unlucky," he added. "But there's never any guarantee you'll end up with a trophy. "I think we would have deserved to win but we have to accept defeat."

Ashley Cole fears Tuchel making same Chelsea mistakes as Lampard after FA Cup final loss Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Leicester City in the FA Cup final. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1436704/Ashley-Cole-Thomas-Tuchel-Chelsea-Frank-Lampard-FA-Cup-SNT Former Chelsea star Ashley Cole has questioned the Blues' recent performances after their FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City, drawing comparisons to their displays under former manager Frank Lampard. Youri Tielemans' long-range strike earned the Foxes a 1-0 win over Chelsea, with Brendan Rodgers' side winning the competition for the first time in their history. Chelsea had a late equaliser denied by VAR, when Ben Chilwell's cross was deflected into the back of the net by Wes Morgan. However, Chilwell was deemed to be offside in the build-up by VAR and the goal was ruled out, meaning Leicester emerged victorious. Speaking on BBC Match of the Day after the game, Cole claimed that Chelsea's recent performances under Thomas Tuchel have "felt the same" as some of their displays under Lampard. "Chelsea have three cup finals now basically, if they want to finish in the top four and win the Champions League," Cole said. "They have got to pick themselves up and go again. They can't feel sorry for themselves. "Is it the same team as Frank Lampard's? "When Frank was here they controlled and dominated games but couldn't finish it off. "The last couple of weeks it has felt the same."

Thomas Tuchel breaks his word https://www.football.london/Chelsea-fc/news/things-spotted-Chelsea-cup-defeat-20606792 Ahead of the game at Wembley, Tuchel told the press he wasn't going to be trying anything dramatically different in the FA Cup final. He said: "A general rule is that the more tension is on, the more decisive character a game has, the less new information we give. We try to do sessions in an easy way. Short and clear. It’s not a moment to learn new stuff, to implement new tactical tricks. It’s a moment to be confident and aware of our style of play." Well, as mentioned above, Tuchel didn't keep his word on that front. The decision to play James on the right of the back three and Azpilicueta at right wing-back was certainly a left-field choice, even though there was a valid tactical reason for doing so. It will be interesting going forward to see if the experiment is tried out again. James certainly proved he can handle the role with ease.

O know I am beyond depressed with all the forces combing to fuck us (including us fucking us) I was just in a stream chat and was swarmed by 20 plus pool and manure fans just pummelling us and me it was brutal I did not realise it it BUT if (even with West ham drawing just now) West Ham, spuds and Everton win out, and we lose to Leicester and villa, and pool win 2 of 3 (they likely win all 3) we are out of Europe altogether (unless we beat citeh in CL final) there is only ONE game in all that that is on paper super unlikely to happen Everton v citeh on last game of year and Pep may rest a tonne of players getting ready for the CL final obviously it s huge longshot that it actually happens but it shows how much we have collapsed at the end that it is even possible

this constantly being fucked over by refs is doing me head in its not healthy I need to detach more 😪

under Roman, winning two and losing 7 is SHAMEFUL I want EVERY trophy EVERY year, ALWAYS the minute that desire floods out of my being, I am done with football
-
I have no idea why so many shit on the CS its a trophy, its hard to get into, and teams rarely if ever blow it off in all the other major nations its a big deal also some blow off the impost of the super cup, which is madness i even see some play down FWCC which is criminally stupid we are the ONLY euro side to lose it post the brasil teams winning the first 3 when they still did not lose all their best players every year its the world championship, you wear the badge for a year its the only trophy still contested we have not won and we are a laughingstock for losing it in 2012

when the ball left the foot he was offside I am not going to dispute that I WILL dispute that fucking Perez handball in the build-up to their goal remember last season when VAR went back almost a minute and a half and 16 passes and chalked off a goal due to a millimetre Azpi offside on a meaningless short pass that was not even attacking shit and had 15 or so passes AFTER it, including I think, a pass back into our own half on a recycle
-
I will not be at all shocked if Leicester do the treble on us Tuesday and kill off our CL for next year, barring a miracle in the final or a miracle in Pool's last 3 games
-
we have bollocksed up every super Cup, the FWCC, 2008 CL final 2005 and 2009 CL semis, and 7 of the 9 CS's under Roman and now have lost 3 of last 4 FA Cups finals in only 5 years a HUGE bad trend
-
that worked like a fucking charm 🤬
-
we are turning into bottle FC in English cups
-
we have lost 3 of the last 4 FA Cup finals we were in and all against vastly poorer teams all in the last 5 years
