  1. Unfortunately this is true. Some/many people are just sad. Let them enjoy life. Agree with that last part as well.
  2. Yeah but you won't catch many people saying he is the best or one of the best in his position. As a player he's criticised more than he's praised. Unlike the players I just mentioned.
  3. They both defend very individualistically. Act first, think later. Rather than to really work together with his partner. At times Ramos looks like an amazing defender. He's very talented. But he does not possess the mind of a great defender. Luiz has better a team around him this time. Assuming he'll play on the left, he'll have Azpilicueta alongside him. And he'll have Kante and Matic in front of him. And of course playing in a much better organised team compared to the one in his first spell.
  4. Ramos is immensely charismatic and has scored big goals in his career but purely as a defender, he's not that good and that's my point. Completely disagree with him being miles superior. You'd think him being a huge personality would work in his favour though. Look at Pogba, Zlatan, Ramos, Neymar (different personalities but big personalities nonetheless). All more loved more than hated. Silva is top class for me (he's had some stinkers when he puts on that Brazil shirt though). Kompany is overrated for me. He was class for a few years (2011-2013) but hasn't been anywhere near as dominant as he used to be for years. Always disappointed in Europe as well. I will admit he was very good last season whenever he was fit though. Read the same article and that line is indeed true. Luiz is a good player overall for me but a solid defender at best. Outside his howlers, his defending isn't the best overall tbh. Whether that's poor marking, being out of position, not reacting quick enough, giving away silly fouls and his strange decision-making at times when facing a 1-on-1 situation. The likes of Alex and Gallas for example were easily better defenders for me. Of course he offers other qualities they (or most defenders) didn't posses.
  5. Isn't it funny how Luiz and Ramos are both quite error-prone and make incredibly dumb moves at times yet the latter is praised into the heavens and the former is the butt of many jokes? Ramos has collected like 500 yellow cards and 200 red cards in his career as well.
  6. At some point you just have to think logically. Marquinhos joined PSG for a huge fee and in his first season he wasn't undisputed. Alex played more (alongside Silva) and was the one playing in the big games. PSG then bought Luiz (Alex left) and the first choice CB pairing was Luiz&Silva. Forget potential. How good is Marquinhos really if he couldn't get ahead of Alex and Luiz? Don't think starters for their clubs can be considered rejects btw. I don't think they're top players but let's see how they'll do first.
  7. Okay, time to reflect. At the start of the window I was hoping for: a CB, a FB, two CMs and an ST. Plus the return of loanees Christensen, Ake and possibly Baker and Boga. Disappointed about Ake leaving but I guess he's just not good enough. Highly disappointed about Christensen leaving again. Stupid move for me. The club brought in David Luiz, Alonso, Kante and Batshuayi. Kante and Michy are very good signings. Arguably two players with world-class potential. Luiz and Alonso not so much, for me anyway, but both are decent additions at worst I think. At least the expectations are low concerning Alonso so he shouldn't be under too much pressure. If not a starter, he could be a very useful squad player. An expensive squad player but hey... Everything has already been said about Luiz. We'll see how that will pan out. EDIT: Going into the season with two strikers is too risky for me though. I can only hope it doesn't hurt the team at some point. The Bonucci's and Pogba's were never going to join so yeah, that was just hope. But it was disappointing the likes of Koulibaly and Nainggolan didn't join. There was a real possibility to add both to the team but it just didn't happen. I'm not going to point fingers and play the blame game because I wasn't there. All in all I think we're not in a position to complain because Chelsea did finish 10th, couldn't offer CL or even EL football and signing top players was difficult for Chelsea even after winning titles. A top 4 finish should definitely be possible with this squad. With the Manc clubs definitely finishing in the top 4, it won't be easy but I have faith in Chelsea's ability to finish above the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.
  8. Yeah I don't expect Luiz to start in the next two games. Don't change a winning team and all that and him being new to Conte's ways. After the Liverpool game he can slide right in. Alonso I expect to take longer to settle in. I don't think the manager will be quick to take Azpilicueta off that left flank.
  9. They're all very promising until they're not.
  10. The new Kaka haha. Bias is a hell of a drug.
  11. Okay, time to whip out the positives of this move. He provides an element of surprise from deep with his long range passing. He can dribble into midfield creating an extra man. He's still fairly quick and agile. He's a sneaky bastard who gets away with quite a lot. He likes to come out of defence to win the ball early. He's not always moonwalking. Lots of experience in domestic and international football. Provides an emergency option in midfield. Always scores a couple of goals. And to borrow a word from Captain Buggy, he's flashy. The return of the Rollercoaster.
  12. Luiz was terrible. No need to make excuses for him. Performances like that comes with the Luiz package. ^^ Laurens has never impressed me with his insight. Maybe he's right but I don't think so. As a lover and promoter of French football, I think he might be a bit hurt another high profile player has left France.
  13. Couldn't let being ousted by Cahill be his legacy at Chelsea and English football.
  14. Wouldn't worry about that at all. Moussa lacks the technique, vision and awareness to become a beast. The reason why at 27 he still hasn't mastered a position. He's not a winger, he's not a centre midfielder and he's not a defensive midfielder, Useful squad player at best.
  15. Thank you for this. Surreal was the word I was looking for. Guess you're right in a way. But I don't want to take away from the fact that he did perform well individually. But yes, he does need training wheels. Every time I think about Luiz, I can't help but think of his awful performances vs Barcelona. I laughed so hard during those two legs in 14/15. I'll never understand how low his 'low' is.
  16. First part is fair. Second part isn't. Luiz was one of the best CBs of the tournament before that horrible moment in history.
  17. Thank you. David Luiz is not a midfielder. Just because he can hit a long pass doesn't mean he's suited to midfield. His non-existant positional sense alone... A wrecking ball for a certain type of game/certain tactics at best. His athleticism has waned as well, making him even less suitable to midfield. As bad as Matic is now, he's easily a better midfielder than David.
  18. Chelsea sold him for a reason. PSG are selling him for a reason. This transfer makes me laugh really. It's just bizarre. If he performs like he did in his first spell, people will be joking about this for a very long time. It's strange. I like and dislike this move at the same time. Overall he's solid, at his best he's very good and at his worst he's terrible. Complete enigma. A true top player can never perform as poorly as Luiz does at times which is why he's never a top player for me. But I'm hoping he somehow manages to improve and perform more consistently outside the freakshow performances. If he can become a 7 out of 10 defender for the most part of a season, bringing him back will have been worth it. Costa and Luiz are gonna cheat and test the limits of refs big time btw and make Chelsea that bit more hated. Fun times ahead.
  19. I take offence to that, sir. Bir is a DrakeNation native if I remember correctly. #BlameCanada
  20. Not a Twitterer myself but I actually like it. Dope.
  21. James joining would make me very pleased about this window.
  22. How did I forget about this part of his game... The most ridiculous and unnecessary fouls this guy would give away. King of excessive (but again, most of all unnecessary) force. David Rollercoaster Luiz is back in Blue. This is the funniest transfer I've seen.
