Now that Brana will definitely play for us in a couple of years I say he's worth a shout.

Great news about his contract. He's our Terry clone. Now with Luiz at the club he'll probably make the RB position his own.

But it's not like he had only a 17yr old at his disposal. 21 year old Daniel Sturridge has only started 2 PL games under Ancelotti and he rarely got more than 10 minutes during our "bad moment". No matter how bad Drogba, Anelka or Kalou played he never got his chance.I could argue Bruma couldn't do worse than Ferreira at CB and his performance against Aston Villa certainly didn't prove Ancelotti right. I've been criticizing the lack of squad depth from August but even with this squad we should have never had our CL spot in doubt. With the thinnest squad in the league, Ancelotti started the season with one hand tied behind his back. However, his use of his other hand leaves a lot to be desired. That would mean everything said about youth development was a lie. I can't be bothered digging up quotes about promises about how we were going to promote some players to the first team but I'm sure the regulars remember.

But that's not really the point is it? Technically Ancelotti wasn't available when Hiddink left.. So what you're saying is that he can't afford to take risks due to the pressure? Don't you realize he brought that pressure on to himself in the fist place? Not to mention that his play-the-same-XI-until-they-hit-form tactic that you support has in the last 4 months got us from league leaders to Europa League candidates. It'll certainly depend on the way we win it. If we fluke it like Liverpool in 2005 I doubt most reasonable fans will have a sudden change of heart.

Our squad was younger back then, it was like we had a bunch of David Luizes. Mourinho hasn't stayed at a club long enough to judge how he handles young players. But the main difference is that in his era the club never planned to rely on the academy even for squad players.

In these 12 pages I'm pretty sure that "The Double" has been mentioned more times than his name. Interesting analogy but I disagree. Teams overachieving shortly after a new manager has been appointed is quite common in football. Hell may even McLaren can get our team to perform better for the rest of the season but he will never be the right manager for Chelsea. From where I'm standing, Ancelotti's main weaknesses were obvious way before our slump. His record with youth players is appalling and our defeat to Inter last year was IMO a tactical defeat.

Overlooked that one. Whether Kakuta was the answer to any of our problems is insignificant. Calls for Ancelotti to pick McEachran because he'd improve our play are identical to the ones asking for a Kakuta start back during our "bad moment".

Unfortunately, while I could argue Abramovich's obsession with the CL could be a story fabricated by the media it seems everyone at the club is obsessed with it. From the Football Board and the old players (understandably) to even new signings (Torres). Being obsessed with a cup competition will only hurt the club in the long run.

Wouldn't hiring a master tactician make more sense if that was the case? Not when we're discussing skill. Unless we're going to accept flukes like Liverpool in 2005.
