Alonso is great technically. Hes good on the ball, pretty fast making decisions, great with his headers, can take a wicked free kick and throw in the odd bicycle kick - a good forward!. But I see Alonsos problems are a part of who he is - his speed (or lack of) and his unawareness. And its too late to make him faster and being aware is something you either have or you haven't IMHO But theres a real lack of good LBs. I'd obvious;y kill for Telles BUT of course that will be bloody difficult so I’d look into getting Shaw with his contract situation. If by any chance the Manc twats don’t extend his contract, then I’d jump all over him on a free. He's fast - loads of pace. He’s great offensively, Got a decent pass. a good cross like Alonso with the addition of being a defender. His problems like Alonso is discipline and positioning which are things that can be worked on (just like they can on Alonso) But hes got the speed, awareness and defending that Alonso hasn't got. But just as we saw in the 2nd half against the north London team once we press and defend as a unit the Alonso speed issue isn't that big of an issue is it!

I understand exactly what you're saying about keeping the wee baldy man further forward and I do think that this system will work out great for him amd I see him getting more goals for us too. But Sarri has said enough times that our defense wont get any better till the team starts to press and defend as a single unit and that wont happen like magic.. You know as well as I do that the WBM runs for fun and hes got no problem in getting back n forth wherever he is needed. Theres got to be a happy medium so that we can make the best use of his strongest skill which is taking the ball from players. We know Whilst Jorgis biggest strength isn't defending (and neither is Luiz's) hes going to need some cover till we get this system fully going and the only option I see is for Kante to help him out. I'm not saying in any way to stop him from going forward cause hes going to be essential further forward but what other option do we have? I dont see why he can't do both.

I think Kovacic is going to help the WBM out allot. Hes a great help at pressing defense so will let him have more time to get forward. Like you said mate its the 2nd game in. Everyone was saying how well he was doing in this system and all of a sudden its like amnesia. Once the lads start defending together and some more zing in the passes this team will be amazing.
