Chelsea will sign at least one new midfielder in 2026 to help cover for injuries to Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo. (@Matt_Law_DT) 😵MORE: Joe Shields is currently leaning towards pursuing Kobbie Mainoo over Adam Wharton as things stand. Chelsea's concrete interest in both talented English midfielders remains strong amid ongoing squad planning. Other than at least 1 midfielder, Chelsea could sign a new centre back in the summer, depending on exits and Colwill’s return form. Chelsea have already spent the entirety of 2025 boosting the attack, which will be further aided by Quenda and Emegha.

Juventus Turin see Andrey Santos as a realistic and appealing option should a deal for Emile Hojbjerg fail to materialise. (@Tuttojuve)

🔴Estevao has a small muscle problem, he will also miss Newcastle. They will see after that! (@BobbyVincentFL)

You've summed it up very well👌💪 I think it will be one of these: -Rosenior Preferred formation: 4-2-3-1 -Fabregas Preferred formation: 4-2-3-1 -Iraola Preferred formation: 4-2-3-1 -De Zerbi (Sam Jewell brought him to Brighton and is a huge fan, along with Paul Winstanley and David Weir) Preferred formation: 4-2-3-1 -Farioli Preferred formation: 4-3-3 Offensive -Xavi Preferred formation: 4-3-3 Offensive

👏First of all, I'm glad to be back at the HF, but we were lucky with our performance today and against Everton, as Everton, like Cardiff today, missed a lot of good chances. Against better opponents, Maresca would have been crushed. Unfortunately, it's no longer fun to watch Marescaball, except against Barcelona. As a fan, you do it anyway! This constantly changing lineup simply doesn't work optimally for our many players. Off to Newcastle🥶, which will be very difficult if we continue to play like this!

Chelsea fans are singing “Ohhh Enzo Maresca” in Cardiff. (@SJohnsonSport) 😂😂😂

🔴Maresca still does not know when Romeo Lavia will return from injury, but Dario Essugo is believed to be close to a comeback. Liam Delap remains out until 2026. (@NizaarKinsella)

Body language expert Darren Stanton: 🗣️ “Enzo Maresca looks wiped out, it’s almost like he hasn’t slept. His blink rate increases, which shows that he’s frustrated. “Like someone that is thinking about his exit strategy and has one eye on the departure lounge.” (@OLBG)
-
Carragher: “I don’t think he’s [Maresca] there next season [at Chelsea]” (@sky)

🔴Enzo Maresca feels he has outperformed other managers who have faced a rebuilding job when joining a major Premier League force, such as Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp previously at Liverpool, and even Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. (@NizaarKinsella)

🗯💣Chelsea have held discussions with representatives from Xavi Hernández's camp in recent weeks regarding the managerial position. The club is keen to maintain momentum and avoid disrupting team progress by parting ways with Enzo Maresca in January. Enzo Maresca is increasingly frustrated internally and could walk away before any potential sacking. (@AaronRamiro)

Great list, Vesper👌🔥 🔵I would add Filipe Luis, *Francesco Farioli, and Xavi to the list of possible coaches. 🟢I also think Matthias Jaissle is a great young coach, but he's probably still too green for the Chelsea board.

🔥Just heard from someone at the presser: The word there was the club asked him to sweep his comments under the rug but rumours were that he wasn't going to - and he didn't! Chelsea kept cutting out the stream too on questions about the SDs and owners Wow... (@SimonPhillips) 🔵Enzo Maresca didn't say anything when asked if he spoke to the owners or sporting directors after Saturday. (@NizaarKinsella) 🔴Maresca says he has nothing to add to his comments on Saturday. CFC "I have already spoken about that and was quite clear." "Are you happy with people saying you have bad relationship with the sporting directors and owners?" Maresca: "I said after the game that I love Chelsea supporters - they deserve the best. Again, I don't have nothing to add" 🗯💣Wow, it won't be long now!💣🗯
-
🗣️ @Matt_Law_DT: “If Enzo Maresca’s complaint was at the Owners/Sporting Directors then I’m afraid he’s fighting a losing battle.”

BREAKING: Enzo Maresca has an internal issue at Chelsea which prompted his post-match comments about not feeling supported. It has been made clear to Enzo Maresca that Chelsea's youth-led model WILL NOT dramatically change because it is backed by the hierarchy and starting to bear fruits. Co-owner Behdad Eghbali along with sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley believe the project is starting to pay off. And Chelsea have doubled down on their investment in youth by adding highly-rated recruitment expert Dave Fallows to work across football development. (@JacobsBen)

🟡Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed Cole Palmer is still feeling pain in his groin and will not be able to play three games a week for the time being. (@SJohnsonSport) What exactly has his long break achieved? Without surgery, it won't get any better! 🤬Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca on recent form: “It's football - it's completely normal. We are always looking for problems and things we need to solve. The Leeds game was 8/9 days ago, we are not going to change our season because we didn't get the points we expect. I'm completely relaxed. It's football, that's the reason why we drop points.” (@BobbyVincentFL) 🚨 Those who work with Enzo Maresca describe him as a "balanced" personality at Cobham. He is not a man who loudly berates others or lets defeats get him down too much. (@Matt_Law_DT) What kind of attitude is that, man!!! 🔴Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca on Josh Acheampong: “The good thing about Josh, the moment we give him a chance, he is always doing well. He is going to be a big player for this club, but he just needs to be patience and wait for the right moment. In this moment, with Trev and Wes, we have 4, 5, 6 games with clean sheets, so sometimes you are also looking for stability. This is the reason why but when you know you have a player that when you need him is always ready to perform, it's important.”

Internally, Chelsea realised they were facing a challenging run of fixtures with away trips to Leeds, Bournemouth and Atalanta, and it will hardly get easier with the visit of Everton, who have won more duels than anyone else in the Premier League this season. (@kierangill_DM) 😵🫤

🔵BlueCo apparently close to signing David Mimbang (17) from EFBC! 🇨🇲 More than just securing a top midfield talent for the future, this would also be a brilliant step for RC Strassbourg in strengthening their relationship with one of the best academies in Cameroon, ahead of Lille who signed Carlos Baleba from them in 2022. (@alfredfrank) After Muhammad Zongo (16), the next African talent lands at BlueCo in Strasbourg, with more to follow! BlueCo is currently buying up half of Africa.
