No. THat was 1998 final, not 2002 final. 1998 ronaldo and brazil had the dilemma of dropping him because of something that happened earlier in the day. The same world cup that Ronaldo won the golden ball at age 21.... I highly doubt you remember anything at that age..... Messi is billed to be the best from the younger generation, not probably will be remembered as the best of all time.... what? Thiago played as many games at barca under pep as Cesc did... At 4 years his junior, at his preferred role... If you guys actually go on the barca board, back in 2011, they had a lot of discussion about who should take over once xavi leaves, cesc or thiago... JT cant be better than Nesta. Nesta was JT, but with athletic ability.... JT had the intelligence and leadership, but Nesta had everything JT had and great athletic attributes... Nesta is the best 1 on 1 defender I've ever seen..

Start hazard in the middle and Jose going to need to drop cesc in a 4-2-3-1.... Chelsea's defense is great because of the 4 brazilians pressing like dogs.... No brazilian press, chelsea defense would be ordinary....Oscar pressing is really key to jose defense... Hazard given the free role, would be potentially juan mata again, except this time chelsea has matic instead of a slow mikel and cesc instead of an old lampard... It could work, but Hazard and cesc are chelsea weakess/liabilites defensively.... And if you put them both in the middle..... I would expect counter attack heaven for opposition teams and both cahill/terry to be exposed... -
not upset, since cesc was an upgrade from anyone on chelsea in the cm department... I mean Cech was adequate to chelsea's goals and ambition, but he was replaced by a better player, even though cech is still like top 3 according to many. Same applies with cesc or anyone else on chelsea. However, i was really pissed when the pivot consisted of mikel and lampard for years...

Mata was supposedly world class as well... And assist wise had the highest number the season before... Wesley played the most advanced cm position with 2 dms in cambiasso and zanetti behind him. Deco as well played the most advanced role for porto in a diamond.... And REALLY???Queresma?

Koke/Pogba is younger than Cesc. Both are more athletic, dynamic, stronger and fit the Jose mold, moreso than Cesc.... Similar to oscar vs mata... Except, this is the CM role, where physical attributes are more relevant...

I never complained about Chelsea not signing Thiago Alcantara... And Thiago at four years his junior was playing as many games under pep as cesc was...Difference is that Thiago was playing in the role that Cesc wanted, but wasnt good enough for barca and Spain....

True, defensively, however, I think Pogba is an upgrade from Cesc. He wouldnt get manmark out of games so easy and he's longrange shooting ability is something chelsea doesnt really have atm.... Also, Oscar could always play out wide, which he has done for brazil now that neymar is the n10...

You doubt a more athletic cm would start over Cesc? Pogba is not rambo. Pogba is technical, strong and pretty much the epitome of how a CM should look like.

I think both would start over matic and cesc personally... Pogba can make the same passes Cesc makes, but Pogba is strong, long, agile and fast... One pogba stride is like 3 steps for Cesc. Pogba is pretty much guarantee to be top 3 cm in the world...

Hazard not really fast. He's really quick, moreso than fast. Bale is lightning fast. As is Reus. Chelsea fast players are pretty much rambo, willian and salah/schurrle...
