  1. Give him a run in the reserves and see how he gets on.
  2. Uefa are to trial the use of two extra assistant referees in the penalty area at both free-kicks and corners as an alternative to goal-line technology. The idea of Uefa boss Michel Platini is to be trialled at youth tournaments. "The game's a lot faster now, it's hard to keep up with play all the time," said Uefa spokesman William Gaillard. The experiment will include using the assistants both behind the goal-line and inside the penalty box as extra eyes and ears for the referee. "We have the go-ahead from the International FA Board to conduct trials on this and we believe it could work," added Gaillard. "They would be just like the linesmen, talking to the ref through a radio system. "Some people say it is better for them to stay behind the goal, others that it is better inside the penalty area so that things that go on like pulling and pushing are properly sanctioned." Platini is coming to the end of his first year as Uefa president. The 52-year-old Frenchman, who is also chairman of Fifa's technical and development committee, is a football legend. He captained France to European Championship glory in 1984 and helped Juventus win the Italian championship twice as well as both the Uefa Cup and European Cup. The goal-scoring midfielder, who began his career at Nancy and also played for Saint-Etienne, also won a hat-trick of European Footballer of the Year awards.
  3. Chelsea have been fined £40,000 by the Football Association after accepting a charge of failing to control their players in a league match. The charges against the Blues related to incidents at the end of their 2-0 win at Derby on 24 November. Chelsea skipper John Terry led players who confronted referee Andre Marriner after Michael Essien was sent off for pushing Kenny Miller in the face. Essien served a three-match suspension for the offence. Last year the Londoners were fined £30,000, severely censured and warned as to their future conduct after admitting a similar charge following the 2-0 defeat at Manchester United on 23 September ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is it that we seem to be the only club ever convictied of this?
  4. This is what we want, signing talented youngsters.
  5. 12 months max, before he gets the boot.
  6. I've not seen him play, but what I've been told about him, he is quality for his age. Be interesting to see how this one pans out over the coming weeks.
  7. Can see this being a really tight game, they are gonna be hard to break-down. With Pizzaro injured Anelka will be up front for the full 90, hopefully he will open his account in style. I'll go for 1-0 Anelka to score midway through second half.
  8. Hopefully this will signal the end of Ben Haim's Chelsea career.
  9. Cant see us winning all 4, purely because I don't think any team is capable of such a feat. Carling Cup, more thank likely be in the final, if we are I think we will retain it. FA cup, well this is the one where anything could happen, just the luck of the draw in this one. Premiership, think we have a good shout, but realistically I can only see this going to Man Utd. Champions League, I have a feeling this could well be our year in this one. The day Jose was pushed out of the door I wrote our season off, so any one of the four would be a good season as far as I'm concerned.
  10. I sincerely hope this is bollocks. He is one player I really don't ever want to see in a Chelsea shirt.
  11. Excellent, cheers Elliott
  12. I cant wait to see Drogba & Anelka up front together. I truly think they will form a great partnership and bring out the best in each other.
  13. I thought it was OK, not really what I was expecting though
  14. I've never had mch confidence in Paulo, so I would welcome this move.
  15. At least we have sufficient cover for him this season, will be good to see him back, but there is no need for him to rush back this time. Hopefully he will be fully recovered before he returns, the last thing we want is him rushing back and getting injured again.
  16. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall and seen the expression on both of their faces.
  17. I've been lucky and managed to avoid it this winter, hope it stays that way.
  18. Not been impressed with Sidwell at all, maybe a loan move bringing regular first-team football is just what the lad needs, but I feel if he does go out on loan he will not return.
  19. Im not a great fan of collars on football shirts, so if it is the new shirt, I wont be buying it.
