He's a better option than Sterling, so it's an improvement to their starting XI if anything. Still stupid money for someone that won't take them to the next level. I'll be more concerned if Jorginho is next in line.
He was a massive liability as a defender (defending is a prerequisite) against decent opposition. The club as a whole should stop trying to put square pegs in round holes to cut costs, etc. He didn't look "rubbish" during his spell at Newcastle. I don't want to hear about the standard difference either.
We signed him as a WF and Mourinho worked his magic by turning him into something he isn't. It should be of no surprise that he actually looked better than all our attacking players bar Hazard. I'm yet to see us link with another winger, so he should be given a chance as it stands.
We should be more worried about a manager at this point. Reports of Conte being at the training ground today. How desperate are the club to save a few million?
He's nothing much more than a willing runner with little to no end product & shines when those around him performing. The odd bright moment can't mask that. Douglas Costa should have been starting ahead of him after the group games.
Utd spent stupid amounts of money and still couldn't mount a serious challenge. Matic wasn't the reason either club finished in their respective positions. Our window closes on 9th August whilst La Liga is the end of August. There's multiple things to consider, so it isn't as cut and dry as you've tried to make out. Swiftly getting rid for a good price would be ideal.
Matic hasn't done that IMO & Willian is almost 30. However, it's obviously a no-brainer if both clubs offer the same fee (transfer deadline is different btw). I just can't see Barcelona doing that
I didn't think there were that many, as he's rightfully waiting to see what direction the club are going in. The club should be shot of Willian the moment any of these rumours come to fruition.
Our core players learned how to win under Mourinho and knew what made them effective. That core is no longer present, so we need to start from scratch and instill new values.
Sarri might not be the right man for that, then.
