  1. Deals beginning announced in the earlier hours of the morning in EU now. It's hard to get excited with all these youngsters now, as they time they actually join, we've signed another handful. Signing De Bruyne, Salah, and Thibo is a short period of time was the definition of smart business, not this scatter gun approach.
  2. We are fortunate that the draw has been kind to us (on paper). If we had Betis or Fiorentina waiting for us next, we'd have serious issues based of tonight's performance.
  3. We signed a Championship player last season for £30m, not a Champions League one. The levels between us and the teams you mentioned is staggering.
  4. We haven't had a single attempt on goal. That's beyond shameful. Sancho & KDH are just making up the numbers.
  5. He's on the bench, so must be well enough. I'm surprised a lot of bit names are on the bench when we are only leading by one. If they really aren't 100%, leave them out of the squad (Palmer, James, Nkunku, etc).
  6. There's no chance Estevao will be loaned out, and I'm sure he's already been given some reassurances about his place next season. Paez is seemingly already training at the club, so they'll see him first hand for a bit before next season.
  7. If there's any doubt, it will always go in favour of Spain's big two.
  8. The fact they only scored one goal as a result of a mix up isn't much to hype about. If they had someone like Cavani around (Ramos was just brought on to take a PK), they would be a threat.
  9. Don't blame you. Emery doesn't normally fare well in the CL either, so it's odd seeing them on the verge of the quarters. The CL seems Spanish bound, one way or another.
  10. Probably fasted most of the day too. PSG's youthfulness is something we should be matching but don't.
  11. Donnarumma just has that knack the of saving PK's. I knew Nunez would miss all day long. Raphinha is probably in the driving seat for the Ballon d'Or now.
  12. I think there might be some confusion, as I was wanting him to stay ahead of those who came in. If you're disagree with the last point about him being good enough to make one of our best PL sides, I guess we just have to agree to disagree.
  13. We just have to take wins however they come right now. Three on the bounce. Tottenham did us a solid too.
  14. Three of the four can't stay fit, so only one could actually be relied on. I'm not sure if the latter is genuine, as I don't see Maresca being that type of person even if he has worked with Palmer in the past. The worry is not having anyone who can seemingly step up.
  15. I could tell that was going to happen. If he's missing PK's as well, we are in serious trouble.
  16. We had Turnbull & Hilario. No one is singing the praises of Jorgensen for his world class performance, however, he's doing the basics which Sanchez clearly can't. As I stated above, if this decision backfires, Maresca better shoulder all the blame. And how many direct errors has he made? ONE! Sanchez leads the league in that regard and you are content with him just slotting back into our squad. Each to their own.
  17. You can only judge someone on what has actually happened rather than hypotheticals. Players should be selected based on form unless they are integral to our first XI (Palmer, James, Fofana, Caicedo, etc). I would be in agreement with you about George had Sancho not been putting in 3 or 4 out of 10 for months & regressed massively. Was Nwaneri ready?
  18. And Jorgensen hasn't done that? This is another case of clear favouritism & trying to save face. George is certainly more deserving of a start than Sancho too.
  19. No one knows if the club pushed for a replacement or not. Keeping him despite the manager clearly not being a fan doesn't suit either party, tbh. I agree. He has been over reliant on underperforming players (Sanchez being the prime example of that), and it has cost us when we need to chase a result. We all knew Maresca would essentially be learning on the job, so the issues you mentioned are things we just have to hope done end up ultimately costing us a CL place that looked nailed on at the start of December. He was the lesser of three evils (Felix, KDH), our captain for large parts of last season, and could actually be relied on. If this was 09/10, we wouldn't even be mentioning his name.
  20. I have no idea what the latter has done to reclaim his place. If this backfires....
  21. We are seen as a business, first & foremost. Those making the decisions where transfers are concerned haven't got an actual plan in mind. The entire direction we have been going on & off the field since the acquisition is extremely worrying. Maresca wasn't keen on him, & rightfully so. I know you have a great fondness towards Felix for some reason or another. Blame Maresca all you want, but those mentioned are down to him. 1 )Felix isn't up to top level football 2) Nkunku just isn't a better option than Palmer 3) Veiga seemingly wanted to play CB
  22. I wouldn't have cared if the Gallagher/Felix deal didn't happen. What bothers me is that it happened and we ended up getting the short end of the stick.
  23. It doesn't seem like we bailed on it. Just moved the goalposts & his team decided against going ahead with things. That's exactly something I can imagine those calling the shots to do, tbh.
