I know the question wasn't directly aimed at me, but I can only see Villa laying that amount down, especially if Grealish goes or potentially Tottenham, but I don't see us ever doing business with them unless we gain someone in return.

We're an attractive option having just won the CL for starters. The clubs you mentioned will be in the CL next season & two of the three will probably be league winners. People have that train of thought based more so on the competition we'll have to face for his signature & pay packet that will be on the table. Not everything comes down to Haaland having his heart set on a specific club.

If our youngsters just had a look at the players that have broken through in the last few years, they'd see there is an opportunity. If the latter does come to fruition for any of them, we'll still effectively be held to ransom.

All I see is more egos to deal with. I honestly don't see them winning the CL in the near future despite their stack squad.

I don't know how that's possible with Abraham, Bats, Broja & Werner as our CF options. If nothing notable changes, we'll have to hope a number of our other attacking options have the seasons of their lives in terms of output to be competitive in both.

It will certainly be an interesting few weeks, nonetheless. I do worry that if the last bit comes to fruition, we could be in some trouble.

Have they ever done that aside from when clauses are well publicised? The fact it's probably this summer or bust, as a few others have said, plays it part. No one here knows if we've actively registered our interest in him, but if we have, we either need to offer a figure that is in their ball park (£150m IMO) or move on and prevent another transfer saga dragging on till the end of the window.

I don't think Dortmund would be stupid enough to let greed get in the way of receiving double of next season's fee. The rumoured €150m fee is what they are holding out for, so the ball is effectively in our court; cough up or move on.
