Haaland would at least have some resell value if he didn't deliver. The same can't be said about this potential signing.
In relation to your point about Haaland/Werner comparison, just look at the former's record in the CL.
At the point where I'm starting to think there's more to the Haaland "saga" and, he's set on moving elsewhere. That's the only conceivable reasoning for us going full steam ahead for Lukaku all of a sudden.
I'm slightly surprised no one has gone after Iheanacho. People might say he just had a purple patch, but his goal scoring record was rather good before leaving City as well.
They are going to have to lose a notable player or two if they are seriously going to go for Kane as well.

People have that train of thought based more so on the competition we'll have to face for his signature & pay packet that will be on the table. Not everything comes down to Haaland having his heart set on a specific club.
If rumours are true, we could be the place they offload him to.
Bayern messed themselves up making Sane their third highest paid player & expected others to be mute about it.
If our youngsters just had a look at the players that have broken through in the last few years, they'd see there is an opportunity.
If the latter does come to fruition for any of them, we'll still effectively be held to ransom.
