  1. It's a narrative people seem to run with based on his past. Not sure why.
  2. If you're paying £54m for a player, I'd expect them to hit more than 11 goals in a season. Players can get past injury issues when their young, well managed & have the right fitness routine in place. Also, keep in mind that he did play 34 games for Barcelona last season, not 5.
  3. There's no guarantee either way. We paid big for Pulisic & how is that working out? Days of actually buying starting quality are gone for the most part. If everything were to line up, the pros would outweigh the cons where this deal is concerned. His attitude (Fortnite addiction 😄) would be the main worry for me.
  4. That's why @Pizy mentioned it's decent business if we can get him on the cheap. I'm sure you'd agree.
  5. I think he would definitely be someone Tuchel pushed for if he were to join. He knows him well & has spoken highly of him on a number of occasions.
  6. Couldn't write it. Almost like the last game of last season.
  7. It's been an issue for years now. Managers aren't getting targets they really want but end up paying the price for poor buys. I have this feeling that history will repeat itself & Tuchel could end up paying the price for a decision ultimately made above him.
  8. Common sense? What on earth do you expect Tuchel to say. As has been noted, there's a difference between pushing for a target (Haaland potentially) & accepting the hand you're dealt.
  9. The price tag was largely around potential, which is the go to thing nowadays. Oh, how I miss the days of paying big bucks for players that were actually up to the job or supposedly so right there & then. This is what gets me more than anything - "Best on the market". To me, that's complete nonsense if we're including every CF in the world aside from a few untouchables (for us, anyway). I've been signing the same tune on this forum for a few years now & it's one word - Osimhen. He's been the ideal option since his time at Lille IMO.
  10. £70m question. I think it's there, but he doesn't seem like the player that will push him to excel. I personally see him as more or an AM/SS rather than a CF, which he has played quite often whilst here. Saying that, I don't believe we'll get the best out of him should Tuchel stick to the current formation. How did that go? I believe we weren't doing too bad as a team when he was leading the line. Individual stats are secondary if the team are delivering. We were at least a unit. If you took Werner out for someone like Kane last season, we'd have been a completely different proposition. Creating chances are even hard to come by now.
  11. I'm really surprised there isn't more noise being made about him. People forgetting he was demanding this & that to remain at the club. Trying to figure out what he actually offers aside from pace to run down the line and then spot and pass back.
  12. As I alluded to with "hit the heights". The potential to hit the level Hazard did whilst he was here. A number of things have hampered Havertz's time thus far at the club, from being played in multiple positions, not getting a run of games & needless to say, long term COVID effects.
  13. You can't honestly think Lukaku was a signing Tuchel pushed for?
  14. Feels like we can't compete for the top talents anymore or are reluctant to go for them. Providing Havertz hits the heights most expected prior to the move, he's the only top talent we've signed in years & COVID was probably the main reason we got it over the line to begin with.
  15. One win in our last seven league games. If we lose to Tottenham, we could possibly be outsiders for a top 4. From 6 points clear to this. Some collapse.
  16. Lukaku & Ziyech retain their places & CHO at RWB? Tuchel keeps making these questionable decisions. We can't afford anything but a win tonight
  17. That opinion must be solely based on his price tag, as he's been nowhere near some mentioned where it matters.
  18. Tuchel connection. If he didn't have a boatload of baggage, he would be a smart signing.
  19. I was going to mention that almost every player has their price, but we aren't in dire need or are after starters.
  20. Maehle or Gosens (presume the former)? I think either of them would be good additions to our squad, but I doubt Atalanta would consider selling.
  21. My response to the other poster was about us being in a better position had we not slipped up multiple times & gone from 6 points clear to this. Our current situation in terms of league play isn't far off last season right now.
  22. It's something when you pay a club record fee & look worse for it.
  23. Teams just taking advantage at this point.
  24. Finishing second (at worst) and closing the considerable cap of 19 points to City would be seen as an improvement by anyone. Not sure how this is even being questioned. Should have done the double against Liverpool tbh.
  25. Maybe so, but it would have at least been much closer & would have shown we've improved on last season. We're 13 points behind now.
