I think there's a stigma around the club with Roman being trigger happy to some, not having a decorated history as a club & no longer willing to essentially bridge that gap like City/PSG. I've felt conflicted about this for a few years, but I do wonder if Roman no longer is willing to spend big to compete, as it seems we never build on our success, and instead, it's used as a measuring pole. We've been a victim of our own success. Also, I want to point out that I'm aware we've spent big on a few players recently, but a decent chunk was offset by outgoings.

It's one position they seem to bring quality in - Auba, Laca, Sanchez, etc. Whether he'll adapt to the Prem should it happen or follow a similar fate to Pepe will be the big question.

If you're paying £54m for a player, I'd expect them to hit more than 11 goals in a season. Players can get past injury issues when their young, well managed & have the right fitness routine in place. Also, keep in mind that he did play 34 games for Barcelona last season, not 5.

There's no guarantee either way. We paid big for Pulisic & how is that working out? Days of actually buying starting quality are gone for the most part. If everything were to line up, the pros would outweigh the cons where this deal is concerned. His attitude (Fortnite addiction 😄) would be the main worry for me.

I think he would definitely be someone Tuchel pushed for if he were to join. He knows him well & has spoken highly of him on a number of occasions.

It's been an issue for years now. Managers aren't getting targets they really want but end up paying the price for poor buys. I have this feeling that history will repeat itself & Tuchel could end up paying the price for a decision ultimately made above him.

Common sense? What on earth do you expect Tuchel to say. As has been noted, there's a difference between pushing for a target (Haaland potentially) & accepting the hand you're dealt.

The price tag was largely around potential, which is the go to thing nowadays. Oh, how I miss the days of paying big bucks for players that were actually up to the job or supposedly so right there & then. This is what gets me more than anything - "Best on the market". To me, that's complete nonsense if we're including every CF in the world aside from a few untouchables (for us, anyway). I've been signing the same tune on this forum for a few years now & it's one word - Osimhen. He's been the ideal option since his time at Lille IMO.
