Bertrand's biggest problem at Chelsea was not related to his level of play but rather the frequency of managerial changes. He simply became the victim of multiple managers' pursuit for glory and trophies at the expense of seeing our youth raise from the academy to the first eleven. Had Mourinho stayed at the Bridge since 2004, we would have witnessed Bertrand and numerous others raise from the youth setup to the top of the world. Mourinho this time simply wanted to maximise the strength of the squad with the signing of Filipe Luis which then practically ended Bertrand's career at this club. This does make us Chelsea fans sad considering that Ryan had been waiting patiently for the opportunities to come to him behind Ashley Cole season after season, and was promised on various occasions of the great future for him after Ashley's retirement. Sadly that never took place as Chelsea's hunger for trophies is higher than ever at the moment, and therefore our manager took the safest bet of buying somebody proven and world class. 19.05.2012. The day Bertrand nor Chelsea fans shall never forget. And his name will always be up there with the ones who lifted that trophy in Munich. Bertrand did make his breakthrough that night, but unfortunately that was not enough to make him Cole's long time successor. He is still young and we will most certainly hear from him again, and possibly enjoy see him play for the Three Lions.

Him and De Bruyne.....and that Rodriguez guy. Gotta start watching Wolfsburg matches from now on, sexy football is expected!

We have Remy, Ramires and Filipe Luis capable of playing on the wing in case of injuries. And then there's few youngsters who deserve play time in case all of these options would be unable to play. And one of our three main wingers is going to be on the bench (either Willian or Cuadrado). However, I feel that Hazard - Willian - Cuadrado might become our 3 attacking midfielders, especially in big games. That makes our squad seem a little bit thin but we still have Oscar and Cesc for the no.10 position. What we need IMO is a new, quality central midfielder. I would go for Khedira or Gundogan. Sissoko would be a great option as well.

Ivanovic sure as hell ain't a right back either nor can he play there naturally. As a matter of fact, I see Willian much more as an undroppable rather than Iva. Sure he gives us that extra dimension in set-pieces and in aerial play in general. But defensively he is like a ghost, doing next to nothing and letting crosses come in regularly. He isn't that fast either and we have seen it over and over again how he is simply overrun by faster wingers of left-backs. Cuadrado on the other hand is one of the fastest players on the planet. He has played wingback many times and has the same kind of work ethic Willian does. Those two would complement each others' play and make us more threatening in attack. One of our most regular tactics is Cesc passing the ball behind the line to the right side where Ivanovic then runs. Cuadrado could offer much more in those situations with his pace! No defence can stand the pace Willian-Cuadrado partnership
-
I'd love to see that one as well.
-
Considering how high up the pitch Ivanovic in general is playing, with also keeping in mind how poor he has been defensively for quite a while now, would it be realistic to assume Jose might want to try playing Cuadrado as a right-back? Costa Hazard Oscar Willian Matic Cesc Azpi Cuadrado Terry Zouma Willian-Cuadrado would easily make the fastest right wing in world football! And we would still have Ramires and Remy on the bench.
-
There ain't many absolute facts in the universe but Loic Remy certainly does score wherever or whenever he gets a chance.
-
Still less than what the urban legends say about the amount of viewers for the Super Bowl. 1 billion people, right?
-
So, instead of playing youngsters in the Capital One Cup Jose decided to have an actual 'Academy Day' in the biggest match of the Premier League season? Haha, I love it.
-
Our bench would be good if we had Cuadrado instead of Christensen IMO.
-
Today's subs: Cech, Cahill, Christensen, Ake, Loftus-Cheek, Brown and Drogba.
-
Zouma and Remy! Wohoo
-
I'm sure he will end up at Barcelona although I reckon he would be immense at ManU under Van Gaal. Maybe after about 3 seasons when Cesc decides to leave for MLS we could buy the legendary KDB to replace him?
-
Are the Dortmundians absolutely sure they don't want to consider a swap deal involving Reus and Andre? They could get more money out of him now and start building up for the next season already. That move might save them from relegation anyways. Still I think also for Reus, move to Chelsea would be the more interesting choice....but if stacks of money on the Bernabeu bench feel better then be it. 34 Mil for Schurrle would be fantastic deal for us anyways.

Wow we started playing football again properly as soon as this guy hit the field. Really contributed to winning so many balls in midfield, exactly what we have been lacking in other games like the Liverpool and Spurs away games. I expect to see him start at Etihad on Saturday.
-
He was one of the worst players on the pitch yesterday. Last January Oscar got dropped for Ramires in City game and this season more than likely the same scenario will happen. As much as I wish to see this lad grow and develop into a Chelsea legend, I just can't see that happening. The way he sometimes switches off and is not played in big games is a concern. I'm almost certain that in few years we have replaced Oscar with someone else (Pogba, Koke etc.) or with Willian playing the no 10 whilst we have a new winger (Cuadrado?).
-
REUS!!!
-
Put Ake for Oscar, and goodnight everyone. 0-0 FT
-
Great lineup! Awesome to see Ake take Mikel's spot in the squad, hope to see this regularly next season. But goddammit watching football is made so difficult nowadays..... Wiziwig is down and other streaming sites suck, Flash is always awful, Sopcast has been down half a decade now and Acestream doesn't even work properly on Mac. I'm sure Zouma will be a regular starting XI player from now on and will be so for the next 10 years. Only question is who will partner him next season. Still keeping fingers crossed for Varane coming to the Bridge in the summer. Zouma - Varane would be the best CB-partnership in world football for the next decade, in club and international competitions.
-
Azpi - Zouma - Terry - Luis Needs to be this. Rest is up to you, Jose. Although....I'd fancy something like this: Azpi - Zouma - Terry - Luis Matic Cesc - Ramires/Oscar Willian - Hazard Costa No point speculating over the goalkeeper as both choices are outstanding.
-
So Cuadrado in, Schurrle and Salah out. Are we going to integrate one of the youngsters or call up somebody back from loan (Hazard, Traore)?
-
I wish the rumours are true and we will do whatever it takes to sign this kid in the summer. The biggest talent in the generation, bigger than Hazard because of these kinds of goals which Eden hardly ever scores, unfortunately. Costa Hazard Willian/Oscar/Cuadrado Pogba Cesc Matic IMO Oscar + 20M should do it.
-
Are we getting videomaterial at half-time?
-
Stream?
-
Costa Remy Hazard Cesc Willian Matic Luis Ivanovic Terry Zouma Courtois Risky but would definitely rape their defence big time. 2nd half bring Mikel for Remy and freeze the game.
