------------------------------------------------------------
Cudicini was one of Chelsea's longest serving goalkeepers, spending 9 years at the club. He was signed by fellow Italian, Gianluca Vialli in 1999 as cover for Dutchman Ed de Goey. After a while however, he began to put together a string of magnificent performances for Chelsea, making him first choice goalkeeper. In the 2002-2003 season, he was recognised as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, winning the ITV "Golden Gloves" award Premiership goalkeeper of the season award. Between the years of 2004-2009 however, his apperances began to fade when Jose Mourinho brought in Czech Republic keeper Petr Cech from Stade Rennais. Cech became first choice while Cudicini was slipped down the pecking order to second choice. The Italian keeper however participated in a host of Cup games for Chelsea.
Cudicini's not-so memorable event happened in a 1-0 victory over Reading during the 2006-2007 season when at the very end of the game, he was knocked unconcious and had to be taken off the field wearing an oxygen mask.
Everybody at talkchelsea wish Carlo all the very best at Tottenham Hotspur and would like to thank him for his memoriable 9 year service at Chelsea.
