You're entitled to your opinion, just as I am.. You seem to have taken it that I live by this quote (which I don't!!) When Shankley said it, yes, he meant it tongue in cheek.......and that's the way you should have taken it too. As for "jumping in" as you put it.......This is a forum where people post comments. Whether they are right or wrong they are the comments (cliched or not!) of Chelsea fans. I won't rubbish any persons comments on here because everyone is entitled to their say. You felt the need to take umbrage with my "cliched comment". If you don't want me "Jumping in" then perhaps open forums are not the place to be!! And my reference to the "Highs and lows" is just to point out that I have seen much tougher times than we are going through now. I am proud to support Chelsea and always have been, and if I cannot post my memories of worse times on here, then where would you like me to post them? And as for Chelsea mullering someone soon??? Not the way we are playing at present I feel. That's my opinion, but if they do I will bow to your superior knowledge of the game....And I really do hope you are right and it is against Liverpool. It was Shankly who put in place the corner stones of the great Liverpool teams for the likes of Paisley to carry on. I don't let on to be an expert on Liverpool history, but I do remember seeing them play at the time on many occasions, and they were very good. And at that time, in Liverpool, football was very important to the people. The city was fairly run down with a lot of unemployment, so football was a passion up there. I quoted what Shankly said at the time, whether he said it tongue in cheek is up to you to work out. As for me?? I put up the quote as a "light hearted " comment...So take it as such..Don't take life or comments sooooo seriously......Life's too short As for Chelsea ?? I've supported them since 1970, seen us relegated, practically go out of business, get sold for a pound, lose to clubs like Orient, sell our best players season after season to make ends meet, get hammered by Yid fans Birmingham fans Derby fans and the coppers in Coventry on a cold wet Saturday. So after supporting them for 45 years they are a big part of my life and as such are important to me. But do you really think I'm losing any sleep over our current predicament?? Not bloody likely.. It's been a rollercoaster ride and it ain't over yet and I enjoy all the highs.....and the lows too.

That quote was made 20 years before Hillsborough. I might agree with you if it was said 20 years after. How sure are you that at the time it was said tongue in cheek? Liverpool were very passionate about their football back then, and at that time a lot of fans agreed with Shankly's sentiment. As for tongue in cheek........When I posted it here that's exactly what it was supposed to be mate !!!!!

When he was manager they were unbeatable.........Give credit where it's due mate. Shankley transformed Liverpool from a second division club to European Champions. You and I may not like them but the manager did one hell of a job. Nothing delusional there...just fact
-
By any chance do you do marriage councilling ????????
-
As I've stated on here before...........The great Liverpool manager Bill Shankley once said "Football is not just a matter of life and death...It's much more important than that" That says it all for me :blue scalf:

Ah fuck this............I'm off to bed..........Pissed off......Depressed.......angry.........annoyed..........frustrated......hopping mad.......Oh the joys of supporting Chelsea.............Some poor fucker is gonna feel my wrath tomorrow

Christ people!!!!!!!!! Open your eyes......Poor results since the start of the season, poor performances since the start of the season, no real team changes since the start of the season, no tactical changes since the start of the season........Sorry but Mourinho is bereft of ideas, has dragged the club through the mud lately and there's really no sign of any improvement no matter who we play........He has to go, for the good of the club, before we become a bigger laughing stock than we already are.
-
I am too sick to make a sensible comment here tonight.............But here's a thought..Although we didn't play badly, this level of performance will win us f@ck all this season. 8th if we're lucky!!!!!!
-
Reminds me of Rosenberg.........I wonder will the outcome be the same???????

Just shows how far we have fallen when we are looking to bring Mikel back into the side.....And sadly I agree with you

Had posted this in the west ham post match thread, but this is where it should be I'm just reading all the arguments on here about Jose, the team, who's playing good and who's shite. So guys let's stand back and look at this from a neutral point of view (if we can). Right, we're the reigning champions........But in honesty we did not perform after last Christmas and struggled over the line, and that form has continued into this season. If we had been second or third after Christmas and played like we did, we would not have accepted it and we would have been critizising the manager and team just like we are now. We bought very poorly over the summer which also added to the problem. We bought no quality whatsoever. There is not a player we bought who walked straight into the side. Season starts and we are piss poor. Same rubbish we played at the end of last season only worse. The players aren't performing, The manager rigidly sticks with a formation which doesn't create any clear cut chances or shots on target. We cannot break down defences any more, and we are utter rubbish at defending corners and set pieces. The manager has installed a siege mentality within the club and is constantly in trouble with the FA. Club staff are also ill-diciplined and getting sent off. Morale inside the club is rock bottom and this is very obvious when we go behind in games. This squad is one of the very best in the Premiership and is languishing 15th in the league, and no real signs of improvement or change by the manager. Liverpool next up and if we lose that we are in a relegation fight........This is Chelsea I am talking about, not Sunderland or Newcastle or some other bottom feeding side!!! So after reading this from a neutral point of view, I can only see one outcome and that is that the manager will have to go and a new regime installed to save our season. I like Mourinho and was delighted to see him come back, but we need a change. Diego Simeone for me and the sooner the better. It may seem harsh but that's football and the club must come first.

How did you know about the bingo ????
-
He doesn't need a toilet.....He has a colostomy bag ....Sorry Zolayes, couldn't resist mate. (yes I know I'm not that far behind you !!!!!!)
-
I'm not surprised? He'd only come out with the "siege mentality" again
-
At least in the second half we showed some fight. Matic ??WTF!!! You knew you were gonna get sent off and you still went ahead and comitted a needless foul. For all our major steps forward in the past ten years I think we are going to be right back where we started. Players wont join us if we dont have (and wont have) Champions league football, and at this rate we wont even have Europa League. The dark days are back guys, and although the performance wasn't all that bad we have just been beaten by West Ham who hadn't scored a goal against us for 3 bloody seasons. Something needs to change, and after Jose getting in more trouble with the FA I wont be surprised if it's him. I'm not saying that's what I want, but Mr Abramovich has the last word and he usually doesn't hang about.

Play three at the back...Move Zouma into midfield and fucking go for it. We can't be any worse than we have been this season............Our defending from set pieces, especially corners, this season has been atrocious. Thats at least the third goal we have cionceded from a corner in our last 4 or five league games. Very amateurish. We need players on the posts.
-
It has mate....................Ooh it has
-
A pivotal game in our season I think. If we lose this then ANY european competition is out for next season. I saw signs of recovery on tuesday night and if we can follow that up against West Ham we should win. They will attack us which in a way is good, because then we can counter attack which I feel at the moment is our most dangerous tactic. But if they dont, and play a deep defensive line then I think we are done for. We don't seem capable of creating any chances against deep defensive formations. So come on Hammers, attack us......You know you want to

Let's not get carried away with a limp win over Villa. Ok, great to get the win,but FFS this was Aston Villa!!!!! Before we scored our fortutious first goal Villa had the better chances. Gestede should have scored for them when he flicked it over the bar. We need to change our system. We have allegedly some of the best players in the world in the side, and we create diddly squat from play. Doesn't that tell us something? We've tried different players in a lot of positions and we still cannot manage to really get the Chelsea machine rolling. I would like to see Jose try something different on formations, with maybe two up top. Costa was a different player yesterday, he wasn't trying to assassinate every opposition player for a change, and his contribution was good. But if he was partnered up front I seriously think we would create, and score more goals. It's great we got the win yesterday, and confidence and morale will have been partly restored, but be honest guys, does this team look like it is going to power it's way up the league with scintillating football, annihialating all opposition in our way, or a team that will need to dig out victories and rely on a lot of luck as we did yesterday? I know which one I see. I may seem like a killjoy, and you will probably tell me to lighten up as we got the win and that's all that matters. But I'm looking long term.....And one swallow doesn't make a summer !
-
I'll say it for you.......A poor Guzan kick out gifts us the first goal. A very lucky deflection gifts us the second goal. We created nothing. How many real chances did we make? How many times did we break through to test their keeper? How many dangerous crosses did we send in? None to my memory (but I'm old ) And this was against bloody Aston Villa!!!!! The whipping boys of the league. Granted, it's great to get the win, but if we had lost at home to Villa with the squad we have, what would you all be saying? and Mourinho would definitely have to go. We were nowhere near the classy free-flowing football we played in the first half of last season. Next two league matches will measure how much we have improved....West Ham away and then Liverpool at home. I will judge after those. Sorry if this sounds negative, but I saw a spark of recovery, not a raging fire.

I will just quote you what the great Bill Shankly said once upon a time. He said "Football is not just a matter of life and death........It's much more important than that"!
