First "Big" signing I remember seeing was Duncan Mc Kenzie from Everton. 1978 or 79 I think. He was supposed to be the dogs bollox. He just turned out to be the latter
-
Well we did get a lot of "spankings" back then, didn't we !!!!!!!!!!!
-
Alan Birchenell and Steve Kember..... Do you remember those two ??? Or am I the oldest Chelsea fan here
-
Yes, they do, but so does every London club. Bats ain't that bad of a striker and scores some vital goals for us. As for the City game, well we were out-thought and out-fought and there is no disgrace in being beaten by that City side, they totally outplayed us. Our lads know whats at stake here and know a win is vital, so lets have faith in our side to get the job done. I do see where you are coming from, and it has happened regularly in the past, but I would hope that the days of Palace and the likes turning us over are well behind us.
-
Jeez people Lets have a bit of faith in our team. We will win, no problem. Palace are rubbish and Conte wont allow a drop in performance. Will be a chance for some players to impress the boss.

We were not allowed to play, and closed down as soon as we got the ball.. Pep learned from his two defeats last season, and to give him credit got his revenge tonight. Overall we were very poor, but Christensen was immense .Hazard wasn't let play. I thought it a very strange decision to bring on Willian when Morata got injured. To me, it then looked like we were playing for the draw. You need a target man upfront if we are to play the way we have been playing. We were lucky it was only one goal. City look the real deal this season and wont drop many points, and they have 2 good players for nearly every position on the park. But I'm not too upset. We have played Arsenal, Spurs and City in our opening matches whereas I think this was City's first big game ( I wouldn't call Liverpool a big game) and Utd haven't played anyone of note yet, so we are still in with a fighting chance. And we wont get any tougher test than we got tonight. Although we lost, there were some positives, One was Christensen and the other was that we are fairly hard to break down when our backs are to the wall. Beware Palace, City have poked the Lion and he's angry.
-
Griezman???????????? Who the f#uck is Griezman. We were truly unbelievable tonight. Better team by a mile and I have never seen Atletico so totally outplayed and bereft of ideas. We made them look very ordinary. Oh, and Hazard was on FIRE
-
I think Fabregas will start. Bakayoko is still a bit green in the Premiership and committing some needless fouls in dangerous positions.(although I think he has played well overall for us) Fabegas will pick them open with his passing, and we need that against a team like Stoke who will be very hard to break down
-
Looking at some of the young guns that played against Forest last night we may not need to I thought Musonda was a young Hazard, and his happiness when he scored was a joy to see. None of the guys that played looked overawed. I was really impressed with them to be honest
-
Hate to say this, but we really miss a Costa type to pressurise defenders. Morata played well enough, but he doesn't instill fear into defences like Costa did. Pedro very poor today, and I was impressed by Bakayoko when he came on. He gave away silly frees, but he will learn, and become a very good acquisition for us. I think we need to change our style of play this season as Morata will need help up front. He needs a player to play off, and hopefully thats Hazard.
-
This will be a nice test for the squad, and it will be very interesting to see what team Conte picks. A couple of nice acquisitions in Drinkwater and Zappacosta to strengthen the squad. Lets hope for a decent performance, a win and a clean sheet with these guys coming on and proving they were money well spent. That's not asking too much is it ????

I read a lot of people on here talking about Llorente, Barkley and the Ox rejecting us, and we only get Drinkwater and Zappacosta. Llorente will be 33 next year, hardly building for the future, and he would spend a lot of time on the bench, so he would not have been a clever buy for 12 million. Barkley, well a squad player at most, coming back from a serious injury and lacks ambition. At present he would be a long way from getting into our side as we have better options. We were the only side to make an inquiry about him so no loss there. The Ox ?, well he is a reluctant wing back and he would like to play in midfield. Not gonna happen at Chelsea as he's not commanding enough, and very inconsistent. A plus would have been he's English. Never going to get picked ahead of Kante, Bakayoko or Fabregas. So again no real loss. Zappacosta, a defender that Conte knows very well and can play right or left, so good cover for these positions until he gets used to the Premiership and challenge our wing backs. Drinkwater, a very astute buy. Is a worker, formed a very good partnership with Kante during Leicesters title winning season, is English, hungry for success, and wanted this move because he feels that Conte will improve him as a player, so I'm happy with who we bought. The three we didn't get? Well, two show a real lack of ambition, not prepared to put in the hard work Conte demands to win "real trophies" and LLorente would have been a panic buy at 32. We have better youngsters.

That was truly pathetic, Visions of last season coming back to haunt me. Not one shot on target, not even a near bloody miss, and we want to be champions!!!!!!!!! Costa never got a kick (again) Pedro,Hazard and Moses anonymous, and Matic gave the ball away way too often. Luiz too was poor, as was the team passing overall. We will need to win every game because the Yids have their tails up and also have a much easier run in. Expected us to show some fight today, but they rolled us over as if we were Sunderland!!!!
-
Matic was utter rubbish today. Stupid free kick to give away. Some very wayward passing and just not up for it. Mistakes Are Totally In Character
-
Com'n guys, have faith in our manager and team. A lot coming on here worrying about this game, but I'm sure it will be a win. Burnley are playing well at home but it's Chelsea they are playing today, not one of the inconsistent sides chasing us. Conte will send our lot out well drilled, confident, and with a game plan to blow Burnley away. And I think the incentive to be potentially 12 ahead of the chasing pack will be enough to get the win. 2-0 to the Mighty Blues

Bet that was a first Your friends said you wouldn;t sweat in a microwave

Can you imagine Wenger doing that??? If he did, each one of those hands would be holding a dagger!!!!!!!

Ooooh what they'd do to have Hazard
-
Love this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Arsenal have to stick with Wenger. He really is perfect for them. He will get them finishing fourth or fifth every season and spends money on "soft, not up for a fight" players.I love the way Ozil and Sanchez never turn up for the big games, Ihope they sign new contracts, and their defence is powder puff at best. Long may you reign Arsene, I love you mate. If we had not conceded in the final moments I would have just said "Perfect". But I'll change that to "Perfect...Almost t!!"
-
Fabregas has to start. His through balls to Costa will play havoc with the soft Arsenal back line. And I would really love to see Fabregas finish off his old teams fading title aspirations
-
I watched them play Southampton and was very impressed with the way the Saints dealt with them. Soaked up all the pressure, then broke wide on nearly every chance they got, and they eventually scored. Our defence is good and we have the wingers to hurt them, so let them comet us (as they will) but we will have to make the most of every break we get. Moses, Pedro, Alonso and Hazard!! We need you to be on your game tonight. I think these guys will either win or lose it for us
-
Alonso and Cahill will be rested I'd say as they are carrying injuries. That could be Zouma and Ake brought in. Moses too may get a break. This frees a space for Aina. Terry to start with Dave as back up on the bench and cover for Aina Bats will play instead of Costa because we cant risk him getting injured. Willian in for Pedro and Fabregas in for Matic. Kante needed in the centre andHazard to start to assist Bats. Take him off for Loftus-Cheek if we get a commanding lead. Begovic in for Courtois. I think that team will do the business. Begovic Zouma Luiz Terry Aina Ake Fabregas Kante Willian Hazard Batshuayi
-
Poor performance, but we ground out a result. Passing was sloppy and we never got out of second gear but hey, a win is a win. Hull for their part made it very tough and their new gaffer has them well set up, but we should have and could have played a lot better. Matic, Hazard and Pedro never got going today. Fabregas seemed to calm things down and added some order to the team with some deft passes. I think he needs to start more games as his passing can be lethal and he seems to be the player who makes us tick. For long periods we were on the back foot, with no-one putting their foot on the ball and taking control of the game for us. I felt Fabregas done that, albeit for the short period he was on the pitch. Anyways, a win is a win and an eight point gap is not to be sneezed at
