All of the other players you mentioned had already proven themselves at the highest level in Belgium before they signed a contract at Chelsea. Courtois and De Bruyne made Genk Champions, Lukaku was the youngest top scorer ever in the Jupiler league. If they would have signed for you before they played first team football, they would probably not have made it. Give me a list of youth players you developed and trained yourself and made it to a decent level in the premier league. I'm very curious.
-
And how do you get them? By throwing a bag of money at the parents. Ripping 15 year old boys away from their friends and family and making them millionaires before they even got a minute of first team football. Also, our development system is better, otherwise there wouldn't be dozens of talents to steal. There should seriously be a ban on -18 EU transfers to other countries. You're sucking our league dry for nothing. Seriously nothing. If Lukaku would have joined Chelsea at 16, he'd probably never have played one game of first team football. He was saved by his name and his price tag.

Let me also add that Van Gaal is completely overrated. Wow. You got fourth place in the PL after spending € 200 million on a couple of chumps? Impressive! Yeah, he won some incredible prices with a wonder generation at Ajax in the nineties but what did he do after that? Won a couple of titles with Barcelona and Bayern. Not very difficult if you look at their teams at the time. Every decent manager would have done the same. Never won the CL again after Ajax. Got third place at the world cup with a shitty dutch team and lots of luck but failed to even qualify in 2002 with players like Van Nistelrooy, Kluivert, Stam, Van der Sar, Davids, Hasselbaink, Seedorf, Makaay, Van Bommel and De boer. Arrogant twat.

Maybe English clubs should stop taking all the best youth players from the smaller leagues if they're not actually going to do anything with them. Musonda would be years beyond where he is now if he played in Anderlecht's first team last year, like Thielemans for example. He's 18 and massively talented. He should be playing first team football somewhere right now. Same with Januzaj at United. He was the only ray of light in the Moyes season, he even gets Giggs's jersey number, and then LVG comes in and buys a couple of underperforming superstars. Place in the squad lost, place in the national team lost. Year lost. He played half of the matches for the reserves, which is an outrage in my eyes. There's lots of money in the Premier League, but you can't buy vision.

You'll "never forgive him for it?" => Childish. He joined Arsenal, he didn't screw your wife. It's sad for a legend to go to a rival team yes, but it was the only top team with an available spot that was seriously interested apparently, so what was he to do? Chelsea let him go because they didn't have a spot for him. I love football and I have favorite teams as well, but I will never start hating a player personally for essentially doing his job. Guess what btw, as soon as Mourinho doesn't like being at Chelsea anymore, he'll be gone with the wind. If not, he would have never left.
-
Yes, and the only other one playing for championships is Arsenal. He's free to go wherever he likes. Cech is a keeper still on top of his game, I don't think Fulham was going to get him to sign. Chelsea ain't playing him, so essentially it's Chelsea's fault - not Cech's.
-
Or the fans just don't care about what the players have done for them in the past and keep demanding them to stay faithful while their career at the club is death.
-
Yeah buddy, laugh all you want, but I'm telling you Lukaku was a much better player at that age, and still is. Mitrovic bottled so many chances in 5 out of 6 CL duels last year, he only kind of redeemed himself in the last match if I remember correctly. Lukaku on the other hand was the Europa League's top goal scorer, and that's in his shittiest year ever. He's less fast, he has less power, he works less hard and he has less of an instinct for goals. Top striker in the Belgian league but come on, nowhere near the level of Everton, let alone Chelsea. He actually had a pot belly early last season. Ever seen fucking Lukaku with a pot belly? The guy is made out of steel and Jamie Carragher's tears. And he isn't a technical player at all. I wouldn't say he's much better in that area either.
-
Wow, apparently he's getting death threats now. A guy that has given a third of his life to Chelsea and won everything with this club. I'm always sad when I realize a sizeable percentage of football fans (and humanity, while we're at it) are just hateful, childish c*nts. Disgusting. Can you imagine working at a business, when suddenly a younger slightly more capable guy takes your job so you head out to a competing company nearby, just to have several clients of your previous business shit in your mailbox? Why is this completely ridiculous in the real world but acceptable in football?
-
Well, both other brothers are talented, this one is hopefully a nice guy, cause he ain't gonna make it as a football player.
-
As an Anderlecht fan I really don't get this. This guy is not ready for Chelsea or even a mid level team in England. He's essentially a less talented, less powerful Lukaku who isn't even much younger.
-
He used to be one of our top talents, but in the last few years he slows down the game whenever he plays for Belgium. He started as a striker too, and was pushed a row back every couple of years. He'll always have this goal though, damn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctQqyLZXezc
-
Some will leave, I guess?
-
If you ask me, he'll go to Juventus.
-
Why do people keep saying this? How many 40 year old world class keepers do you know? He could just as easily become Casilias in stead of Buffon.
-
We don't really have a free kick specialist except for Januzaj who got barred by LVG's "super" transfers.
-
Ugh, I'm kind of in the dark about what Belgium needs. Ok, Wilmots isn't a tactical genius, yes, but every big international team these days seems to have trouble with lesser countries parking the bus. Everyone seems to forget Germany was almost fucked against Algeria for example during the world cup. It's not normal that in one week we completely destroy one of the top teams in Europe and then fail to beat a shit team with 2 good players (who got a goal for free). You can say Mourinho for example would be far superior as a manager, and that's true. But Chelsea kind of played like shit for almost the entire second half of the season as well... Is it Wilmots' fault players purposely seem to ignore both Hazard and De Bruyne? Is it his fault none of our fucking crosses were any good? Is it his fault they are so desperate to start playing long balls against Wales? I'm guessing he didn't instruct them to do so. Fellaini is such an important player against teams like this... I think the Belgian players just like the guy (they practically begged him to stay) but that they mostly like him because he lets them do whatever the hell they want. They need an asshole manager right now who'll just bench players that don't listen. That would be the thing to do.

To build a great and dominant team, you simply need to keep your best players together. Money doesn't keep a clean sheet, Courtois might.
-
The goal of that money is to improve the team right? Chances are slim Cech is still going to be relevant in five years, he'll be in his late thirties then. Not every goalkeeper is a Buffon. I like Cech, he's great, but you can't count on that. Also, I think Courtois already surpassed him as we speak. In the meantime Real will have the best goalkeeper in the world for at least 10 years and Chelsea has to hope they'll discover the next gem in time for Cech to retire. Money means nothing to Real, you'll just make them stronger.
-
Yes, he'll be top notch for another 15 years, just like Courtois.
-
This attitude is why real and barca are able to dominate Europe. If you don't need the money, don't sell your best players. Whatever the price tag. Please tell me who you would buy to replace him that wouldn't be inferior.
-
What?
-
Oh dear god.
-
I would have said that until this year. He's doing quite well for the NT in recent games. Growing into the role.
-
Defensively? I wouldn't be sure actually. And as a LB, he's least likely to compete with Alderweireld.
