Hit the nail right on the head.

But I can't see how he's trying to make a profit yet, he (and therefore our Board) wants us to run like a normal football club and keep the losses at minimum, this will only benefit Chelsea in the long run.

Which is why I don't mind if we have a "quiet" season or a pre-Abramovich season (as I like to call it). Because that period can see the Men emerge from the Boys :)

Doubt our Board or Roman actually wanted a "quiet" season, they took a naive gamble with the squad but combined with what looks like Ancelotti's inability to turn things around made the threat of losing our top 3 status (or even the CL spot for the cynics) more real than ever.
