Messi will get this one again I think. 47 goals in 53 last season & 12 in 11 this season, amazing stat. Would be surprised if Villa pips him for it though.

Would be nice to see Drogba win it, but I don't think he will :chelsea2:

I know he would not win it, but it puzzles me how Frank Lampard was not nominated for this. Complete joke to be fair...

I have already got used to this fact that he is being overlooked, nothing new.

But its not really the point is it. He deserves to be there and i will not lay down because hes never in there. It's a load of shit there was not many players better then Frank last season!

As a midfielder he scored 27. Tell me how many players did better. It is the same old discussion. Frank will never be recognised in such a official way, unfortunately. Unfortunately for him, Chelsea FC, all his fans, and for the world football as well. And no-one deserves it more than him, that's for sure.

I can't believe i'm the one to say this but i don't think he deserves to be nominated. Even though Lamps managed to end up with a great number of goals and assists, his actual play wasn't that great when you look at his overall season. When looking at Frank Lampard standards, the first half of the season Frank was pretty quiet. He hit top gear around january/february. And don't forget that there was a World Cup this year and i don't have to tell you anything about England's World Cup campaign (most certainly the reason why Wayne isn't on that list).

Frank was much better in our 08/09 season and he did make it to the list last year so you're wrong about him never being on the list.

Ha, love it, not a single English name. Deserve it for the showing at SA.

I think Forlan should win this. He won his club the Europa League, and was the unlikely hero for Uruguay.

Yeah I was thinking, if Forlan's named player of the tournament in the World Cup, he must have an outside chance. But if you compare season-wise, Messi had a better over all year. Though Maicon impressed me a lot. Established as the best right back in the world, won the treble with Inter Milan & did well with Brazil (scoring that great/flukey goal)

I really don't get why some players are on this list and some don't...

Where the fuck is Diego Milito ? He did the treble with Inter Milan, scored two goal in the Champions' League final, was the best scorer in the Champions', etc...

Malouda ? OUr best player the last season and one of the best player in EPL last season...

But... Asamoha Gyan has strictly nothing to do on this list. He played for an average team in a very average championship, and if he hadn't missed the penalty against Uruguay nobody would have known his name...

Xavi Alonso, okay he won the World Cup, but there are twenty two others players who have also won it...

Müller, a very good prospect but not yet good enough to be in this list.

I would be happy if either Xavi or Eto'o wins.... But they are not enough mediatic, otherwise one of them would have won it last year.

I agree with you that he shouldn't be on that list but you saying that if hadn't missed that penalty nobody would know his name is not true at all. He was present at the 2006 World Cup as well and he was an Udinese player in the Serie A. Maybe you didn't know him but he was certainly known.

I didn't know him when he was at Udinese, i knew him when he came in France. And of course he is not an unknow player.

But i just exagerated, what i wanted to say, nowadays when you say 'Gyan' you think first about his missed penatly and not about his performances, you see what i mean ?

I knew you were exaggerating but i just wanted to point those facts out to you;).

Actually, when i think about Gyan, i think about his great goal celebrations B).

I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier but why the hell is the World's best left-back not there? SURELY Ashley Cole deserves to be short listed at least?

This article shares my views

I'm totaly agree with you... But : He is english

With what happened to the world cup, and with the fact that nowadays, most of the people (at least in France) hate the British football, it was just impossible for him... But it's a shame.
