Chelsea Youth: Who would you keep or let go

After the triumpth of the FA Youth Cup, there are more names that are added to the youngsters that want to breach the barrier that is the unstoppable force called the first team. But with so many prmosing youngsters and some others that need the faith, which would you choose? Who would you sell and who would you loan out? And who would you give chances too!

For me, i am a keen believer in Scott Sinclair, and even though he has had loan spells all over, all not to the impression in whic we all wanted i think he hasn't been given the faith in him to develop or show the skill and talent which he has. In the last friendly he has shown me he deserves to be given a chance in a CHELSEA shirt then any other team, due to the fact that he isn't used in the right way. At Wigan, he was used more as a striker then as a winger, something which, in my opinion, isn't the best position in him. With Wigan battling against relegation throughout the season, his game time was low then he deserved. I think if Carlo used him as a sub, a super sub if you must, in that odd 10 minutes he can create chances from nothing. I also believe in that we could use players like Sturridge right from the start against teams like Bolton, Wolves, etc. because we have very good players that can help bond confidence.

So for me, to loan, to sell and to give chances is:

Loan: McEarhan, Clifford, Borini (mixed), Mitrovic, Sebek, Sala, Walker, Philliskirk, Lalkovic,

Sell: Di Santo, Mancienne, Woods, Mellis,

Given Chances: Kakuta, Bruma, Sinclair, Betrand, Van Aanholt, Hutchinson,

So what is yours?

:goodpost:

hope this thread gets the respect it deserves ,,so many tough decisions to be made with regards to loans and sales.

I am glad I dont have to make these ..time for Arneson to earn his corn.

please hope people dont just slag off Di Santo ...personally I thought he took up some good positions yesterday .

By all means say you want him sold but please dont rubbish him ..Not sure about Mancienne either.

regardless the future looks bright

I somewhat agree with your list, however I would keep in the squad McEachran and Clifford and loan out Sinclair and Van Aanholt. Not sure about selling Mellis either, he's not bad, and he's homegrown. He's out there representing England in the u19 European Championships so he must be doing something right?

is only Di Santo and probably Woods i would sell...don`t forget that although some of these guys are getting or are already too old for the youth team..we do have a reserve team and with a smaller first team squad this year..we need players plenty of capable youngsters in our reserves to fall back on or blood in when Carlo needs or wants them too.

i think we gonna buy one more player before the window closes so this could change but at present, this is my list..

Loan:Sebek,Lalkovic,Conor Clifford.

Sell: Di Santo,Woods

Given Chances:Kakuta,Bruma,Mancienne,Cork,Hutchinson,Bertrand,Van Aanholt,Mellis,Borini,Mitrovic,Sala,Rajkovic.

the names listed as given chances, are the ones i would give some first team appearences to this season...some i would give more to than others..but with the League Cup..i would give all of those a run out at some point and also sub appearences in the bigger competitions, when the game is already won..in cup ties against lower division opposition etc...

Mellis wasnt involved this weekend because he`s in the under 19 England squad that kicks off their European Championship today..i`m sure he fits in with Chelsea`s long term plans.

Manicenne..i`m not sure why he wasn`t involved yesterday..somebody did say but i`ve forgotten now..

McEachran i hope never gets loaned out...have him play more reserve team games this year,no youth games and start blooding him into the 1st team squad...i really don`t want him in the lower divisions where lesser talented players would just kick lumps out of him..at Chelsea we can control how much exposure he has and he can grow into his role rather than being thrown to the wolves 2 games a week,by a team who just want whats best for them in the short term duration of the loan, rather than whats best for Josh & Chelsea.

I basically agree with what you've got there. The "to loan" list is what I'd have, as would the "to sell" list -- with only one addition, Sinclair. He looked better yesterday granted, but he's never produced any where he's been on loan.

These are very very difficult to gauge, it is so hard to know how the club feel about whats best for their development.

Of your loan list i think that Sebek and Philliskirk could well be moved on, and if they do get loaned it will be with a view to a permanent move in the future. Mitrovic and Lalkovic i doubt will get a loan this season, Mitrovic especially won't because he has yet to break into the reserves, Lalkovic also i think will get a season in the reserves same with Walker, he won't go on loaneither and will play reserve football next season. Connor Clifford, Fabio Borini and Sala could go on loan, again depends on how the club feel. McEachran will not be on loan and i would doubt if he will ever go on loan, i think the club are very keen to start gradually introducing him to the first team over time, which is the best thing for him.

Given chances in the first team i think will be Kakuta, Bertrand, Hutchinson, McEachran - i hope also Jack Cork and possibly Michael Mancienne, i am unsure if the club will loan Bruma for experience or decide to keep him around. Sinclair and Di Santo are very tough calls to make as they have had very poor loan moves but they have ability, Sinclair seemed very keen in the friendly and did well, although he has always done well at Championship level. Woods will take time to recover from injury and then they will try and find a loan for him i would think.

Again this is so hard to call. The most pressing ones ~(i.e the older ones) are Mancienne, Bertrand, Cork, Hutchinson, Di Santo and Sinclair. The others have time on their side still which the club feel may benefit from a loan. I would think the above 6 players will fall into 2 categories, Stay with our first team or move on for good. These have to be made because after the experience they have the club should know if they are good enough or not.
