Getty Images Palermo ace Javier Pastore could be on his way to Chelsea, not Paris Saint-Germain as c;ub president Maurizio Zamparini counters reports he is set to join the French side by claiming a meeting will take place with the Premier League club on Friday.

The Palermo president has responded in stark contrast to earlier claims in Italy which suggested the 22-year-old was ready to sign a deal with PSG worth €45 million for the Sicilian side.

Sky Sport Italia reported that PSG beat Chelsea in the race to sign the playmaker, with Pastore expected to sign a deal with the ambitious French outfit.

However, Zamparini has now watered-down those claims as the transfer saga takes another major twist.

"It's not true and this news [of Pastore joining PSG] is an invention," Zamparini told Stadio News.

"Tomorrow his agent [Marcelo] Simonian will be in London to meet Chelsea."
