Henrique 9,133
When Cole was out, Zhirkov played a good football in a crucial moment of the season...that was a good season, far from being torrid. Bullshit, thats it.Chelse won that game against Bolton after he made a superb assist for Drogba. Edited August 5, 2010 by Henrique
Wilson 358
What does everyone think of this?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1300390/Yury-Zhirkov-lined-Zenit-St-Petersburg-21m-swoop-Chelsea-misfit-Russia.html?ito=feeds-newsxmlI don't know, I mean fair enough he's only had one season but I think he's a bit over hyped despite the fact he's decent and can improve. LDN Blue 7,903
Already been posted on the forum, but it won't happen. Zhirkov had a good debut season, did his roles filling in for Ashley very well. There's no indication we're looking to sell, he's a great asset and player to us.
RX8 40
Well I thing he most stay for now,... I belive he had not get the oportunity to SHow Carlo he can do better, We have to be clear... Cole and Malouda played a Great Season and Yuri was just adapting... so let be patiente... The only way I will consider sell him is that we get someone better tan Him that give a real fight for Malouda or Cole position otherwise we get another year for adapting a new player.. so is Wasted time .. DYC. 7,542
This guy should be played in his natural role for once (left wing). Only then will the real Yuri stand up.

Peace. 4,352
I hope we gonna keep him at least one more season...Cause we haven't good player to substitute Malouda and Cole. If Cole get injured, we would have no one good enough to substitute him, and we would be in trouble. And for Malouda, it's almost the same, even if Anelka or maybe Kakuta could substitue him. DYC. 7,542
Indeed. But so, we gonna put Malouda on the bench ?!Obviously Malouda can't be benched in current fom (well the form before the WC), but he could be moved to midfield. He impressed me when he played there a couple of times last season. But what i really meant with my comment, is that Yuri should (actually has to) get a chance to play left wing. Buying a left winger for 18 mil pounds but never playing him there makes no sense at all. Not one game has he played there. Even when Malouda had to play in midfield because of injuries, Anelka got moved to the left with Kalou playing at the right. I was stunned. EskWeston 696
I would hope that this is the season where Yuri steps up a level. Being able to play all the way down the left hand side is a great asset to have and i am sure he will have a good part to play in our season. Unless he is desperately unhappy then there is no way we will sell him.

There's no doubt, Zhirkov is a better left wing than Anelka.Indeed, buy a guy 18M£ for not playing him at the right place
Badboy 1,526
I actullay really like yuri and i think it would be stupid to sell him. I think coming of the bench he can make a difference !
Rubber bullets 1,183
I honestly think he will leave at the end of season, and maybe even January.

Manuf 1,448
Because he doesn't get any deserved play time?
Rubber bullets 1,183
Think about it, he has not got much chance of playing at Left wing or at least Left back with Malouda and Ashley Cole continuing their excellent form, and it seems if Malouda were to say get injured then Kalou or Sturridge seem to be Carlo's choice of filling the gap. Also its seems Carlo has some hope in PvA developing as a quality LB so that could stop Zhirkov going into their and if Kakuta is to feature more the left wing seems to be his more natural position. Hence this equals less chances for Zhirkov getting playing time and certainly less chance to play at left wing - last season he only had 10 starts. If I were personally close to him like a family/close friend or his agent, I would defiantly voice the opinion of moving clubs to get more playing time to him. BRMC 12
We should play him in all the league cup matches and maybe the fa cup depending on how far we get. Also try give him some champions league matches when we have qualified from the group stages and and just generally fill in when Ashley isnt available and hope he does well enough to earn more regular apearences. Theres no way hes going to make the team at the moment though Ashley and Malouda are on fire.
