eg. the Dutch in 1630s enslaved Africa on a scale that was never achieved by the English or the French.

The importance of history is to learn from it so as not to repeat the mistakes, mistakes which invariably involve the subjugation of people. Unfortunately religion always seems to do this be it Islam, Chrsitianity or whatever.
