Once upon a time, Raheem Sterling was a guaranteed starter for England. However, there must now be questions about whether Sterling will realistically play for his national side ever again given that he was left out of the squad for recent games against Ukraine and Scotland.  Sterling played in the Qatar World Cup in 2022 despite not really […]

He certainly doesn't start in best 11 but there is a place for him.

In last around 10 years Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, France all won something important. Euro or World Cup. If you go even more in the past you will find Netherlands, Greece, Denmark with major trophy. Add Brazil and Argentina and England doesn't make it top10. This is crazy considering level of players they have/had. This generation must win something, no excuses. Last couple of tournaments they were close but I feel Southgate is blocking full potential. Attacking quality is especially top. Kane is not getting any younger they must use this while they can. EURO next year on paper only France could be a problem imo. If England doesn't win it now they never will.

Doesn’t start in their best 11? Debatable if not almost wrong and this is coming from a Scotsman ffs 🤣

Have you seen how he plays for England at the WC, Euro & Nation League qualifiers and the tournaments themselves? Done more than Rashford, Grealish, Foden etc have done at any major tournaments but doesn’t start in their best 11 sure…. pretty sure most if not all of his goals for England are all in competitive games.

I mean who starts ahead of him for England? Surely he plays on the left in this form ahead of Rashford & Grealish? If he was in the last England squad he would of been 2nd top goalscorer behind Kane….

Hey if they don’t call him up/he retires from internationals its our gain & Southgates loss. But Southgate would rather play Maguire and Kalvin Phillips ahead of the likes of guys playing regularly and performing such as Fikayo Tomori or Levi Colwill and James Maddison so that sums up how much he knows about anything. Or playing two RBs when we has got Chilwell on the bench.

You are talking about past. What he did before is irrelevant now. Btw he was always missing in big games for England. Look at his list of goals. Apart from Germany on EURO there is nothing in terms of importance of games and quality opponents. I'm sure you are aware of his form last season. Meanwhile Rashford scored 30 goals and Grealish and Foden won everything while Sterling played badly for 12th PL team on table. How do you pick him ahead of them? There are positive signs he turns it around this season but let's see. And I was defending him. He's not in the squad I said there's a place for him.
