Branislav Ivanovic

I remember last season and at the beginning of this season when I used to complain about his crossing. It was a waste because our players are small. So it's good that he has changed this and now play low passes as the one he just did.

Paris Saint-Germain are back on the trail of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic but are set to be disappointed.

The powerful Serb, a cult hero at Stamford Bridge, has opened discussions over a new contract and wants to stay with Chelsea.

PSG coach Laurent Blanc is keen to add a new right back with Ivanovic, Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta and Newcastle's Mathieu Debuchy among his prospective targets.

Indeed Ivanovic was courted by the French champions last summer but he was assured he had a significant role to play under Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese coach has been satisfied with the 29-year-old's contribution to Chelsea's challenge for the Premier League title.

Ivanovic has two years left on a deal worth around £120,000 a week but is expected to revise those terms and extend by another two years if all goes to plan over the coming weeks.

He has figured in 31 games this season and scored the decisive goal in in what could prove a pivotal 1-0 win at Manchester City last week. He is regarded by Mourinho as one of his trusted senior professionals and his influence on the squad will prove all the more important as Chelsea bring in younger players in the summer.

Kurt Zouma, the 19-year-old France defender, is arriving from St Etienne and 18-year-old left back Luke Shaw is expected from Southampton should they successfully fend off competition from Manchester United and City for his £25m transfer.

I'm surprised how quiet this thread has been when Ivanovic, yet again, failed to close down a cross which in the end led to West Brom's equalizer. Just stood off Berahino with hands behind his back and no interest in putting pressure on the ball. Utterly pathetic!

Actually I think you'll find he's also watching the run from the full-back who was getting to the byline.

But yeah, putting his hands behind his back was awful. Should've had them in the air.

Why does he even need to watch that FB run when he was a distance away and even Ramires tracking him, if anything? You could see the whole time his intention was just to get near Berahino but never bother to put pressure on the ball. And this is not even the first time he has committed such dreadful error when defending against crosses!

I think this is a fantastically original approach to analysing the goal.

I have to say, his behavior towards Cech (the captain) and the official was utterly disgraceful. Stop arguing with the captain and shut the fuck up. What he did truly unsettled the team, which was a huge cause of our collapse tonight.

That really was the most insane thing of the night to me. I think Cech is so laid back that players feel they can have a go at him like that. I know he wouldnt have reacted like that to Terry.

Should probably get a nice rest this weekend.

Would rather shout at the ref than actually defend. Cech had every right to yell at him.

The nervousness at the back cause by this and a couple of defending mistakes is what gave WBA the belief and momentum to go forward and put us under pressure to get an equalizer. Before that they didn't create much.

Also, who on earth was he shouting 'f*ck off' to? Have seen some said it was Mourinho and others said it was towards another player.
