Studio GOGO's Lego jewellery is "made to be played with"

https://www.dezeen.com/2025/08/20/studio-gogo-jewellery-lego-ring-design/

Plastic Lego bricks replace gemstones in these customisable rings by Berlin jewellery brand Studio GOGO, allowing wearers to change up the design as they see fit.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

Crafted from recycled silver, Studio GOGO rings consist of a simple band and a central plate that carefully replicates the shape and size of a Lego tile.

The rings can be worn unadorned or stacked with the wearer's choice of Lego bricks to suit their current tastes.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

Studio GOGO's earliest pieces were centred around the classic two-by-two square tile, but the range has since expanded to incorporate cross-shaped, rectangular and circular tiles.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

"My pieces are made to evolve with you, to be played with, customised and maybe even passed down," studio founder Thanh-Truc Nguyen told Dezeen.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

"At the heart of my jewellery is the belief that meaning, memory and creativity belong in the things we wear every day."

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

Nguyen began her career designing one-off jewellery pieces, but got the idea to make Lego-compatible jewellery during a school project on modular ring design.

"At the time, I put it aside, thinking the concept wasn't particularly original, as I had seen similar ideas out there," she remembered.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

"But years later, I came back to it and something had shifted. I had always seen its potential. But back then, I was focused on creating something entirely new. Over time, I realised that originality isn't about being first, but about adding your own voice."

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

The making process begins with Nguyen digitally producing a master model of her design, which is then used to create a silicone mould. Next, wax is injected through the mould to form individual rings, which are cast in silver using the lost-wax technique.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

Nguyen makes and refines each ring by hand in her Berlin workshop, using files, callipers, clamps and an arsenal of other tools to perfect the size and surface texture.

"My designs demand an extremely high level of precision," she explained. "Tolerances are tight; even a deviation of a tenth of a millimetre can affect fit and function."

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

Studio GOGO will soon expand its collection to include Lego-compatible bracelets and necklaces.

The toymaker's plastic bricks have long been a source of inspiration for architects and designers across disciplines.

studio-gogo-rings-jewellery-design-lego_

Earlier this year, British architect Peter Cook collaborated with Lego to create a domed Play Pavilion in London's Kensington Park, while NASA is currently working on replicating the shape of the bricks using 3D printers and meteorite dust to build on the moon.

Gustaf Westman designs IKEA plate to serve meatballs "like they're sitting on little thrones"

https://www.dezeen.com/2025/08/19/gustaf-westman-ikea-meatball-plate/

Swedish designer Gustaf Westman has revealed the first piece from his upcoming IKEA collaboration, an elongated plate designed to serve and display the Swedish furniture company's classic meatballs in a row.

Dubbed the "first-ever dedicated plate" for the retailer's meatballs, Westman's design has a cheerful turquoise-blue colour.

The porcelain serving plate was designed with a central indentation that is wide enough to fit "the perfectly sized meatball", IKEA said, of which the company sells one billion every year.

Westman aimed for the design to honour the Swedish tradition of serving meatballs for Christmas.

"I love designing objects for a specific function – it brings a touch of humour and makes them instantly easy to grasp," the designer said. "In Sweden, meatballs mean Christmas, and this plate is my way of honouring that tradition."

"The design is simple, lining up the meatballs so each one is visible, like they're sitting on little thrones," he added.

In true IKEA tradition, the plate comes with assembly instructions, showing how to cook the meatballs before placing 11 of them on the rectangular plate.

IKEA suggested that the blue porcelain plate could also be used for serving other foods, such as olives, cheese and fruits.

"While it was created with meatballs in mind, it works just as well for many other dishes," Westman said.

The plate is the first piece from Westman's upcoming IKEA collaboration, with the full line set to be released on 9 September.

The collection is set to include 12 pieces that playfully reimagine tradition.

"This collaboration is about taking the traditions of gathering in the home and reimagining them through playful and unexpected designs," IKEA of Sweden creative leader Maria O'Brian said.

"Partnering with Gustaf Westman was the perfect way to do that, and together, we've created a bold, expressive design that uses an unconventional shape and colour to give this Swedish staple a well-deserved new stage."

Westman also recently unveiled another playful food design, a handbag-style baguette holder, and collaborated with car brand Mercedes-Benz to create a pink car with an integrated tent and picnic table.

THE COLLAB

Picante X Perello

sl-man-270825-hot-list-picante-x-perello

Perelló and Picante have dropped an unexpected joint collection. The Picante founders’ obsession with bold graphics and collectible t-shirts sparked the idea to bootleg the Perelló logo for their SS24 summer capsule. The t-shirt went straight to print and became an instant bestseller. That was, of course, until Perelló caught sight of the tee and naturally took steps to protect its IP. But instead of a fighting, something better happened – the two brands have collaborated. The fresh release includes the original (now legit) t-shirt, a new graphic tee, hoodie, cap, Nalgene water bottle and a 600g tin of Perelló’s gorgeous manzanilla olives, rebranded with ‘Picante’ in place of the original label.

Summary:

  • adidas and BSTN have collaborated on an Oktoberfest sneaker pack.
  • Two festive colourways – inspired by traditional lederhosen – are available.
  • The collaboration releases September 13 exclusively at BSTN Munich and online.

Munich’s Oktoberfest is just around the corner, and to celebrate, German sneaker boutique BSTN has teamed up with adidas on a limited-edition footwear collaboration featuring two unique colourways. But this two-part München sneaker release comes with a Mediterranean twist.

adidas-bstn-oktoberfest-sneaker-pack-infadidas-bstn-oktoberfest-sneaker-pack-inf

In recent years, the growing popularity of the world-famous Volksfest among Italian tourists has become a lighthearted running joke among Munich locals. So much so, that the festival’s second weekend is now affectionately known as “Italian Weekend.”

adidas-bstn-oktoberfest-sneaker-pack-infadidas-bstn-oktoberfest-sneaker-pack-inf

Leaning into this cross-cultural connection, adidas and BSTN have crafted a design that blends the spirit of Oktoberfest with a playful Italian flair. Each sneaker features ‘Salute’ (Italian for “cheers”) branding on the silhouette, along with “Brindiamo” (“let’s raise a glass”) boldly displayed on the collaboration’s custom crest – a warm nod to the festive atmosphere of family, community, and celebration that defines Oktoberfest.

adidas-bstn-oktoberfest-sneaker-pack-infadidas-bstn-oktoberfest-sneaker-pack-inf

Still paying homage to traditional Bavarian attire however, the two colourways – “Dark Brown / Dark Green” and “Taupe / Sage Green” – echo the classic design elements of lederhosen ( the knee-length leather breeches typically worn at the festival). And, the subtle embroidery on each heel adds an extra layer of detail, drawing further inspiration from Wiesn culture.

The adidas x BSTN München ‘Oktoberfest’ collection launches on September 13, available at the BSTN flagship store in Munich and online on the brands website.

Minimalist, noble and elegant: this is how the Tissot Nordic Gold Gent can be described. Thanks to its small diameter of 33.5 millimeters and the solid 18K yellow gold case, which is not even six millimeters high, this men's watch sits almost imperceptibly on the wrist. The silver-tone dial features slim yellow gold-tone hands and indexes. It is protected by a very scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Powered by a reliable Swiss Made quartz movement, the Tissot Nordic Gold Gent is one of Tissot's purest and most elegant piece. Its black leather strap with alligator embossing and pin buckle provides a tasteful color contrast to the shimmering yellow gold case.

Tom Sachs and NikeCraft Reveal the Continued Innovation of the Mars Yard Sneaker With Mars Yard 3.0

Nothing, and everything, has changed. NikeCraft is introducing the Mars Yard 3.0: the latest evolution of Tom Sachs’ beloved aerospace-inspired footwear, built for the sport of sculpture and the rigors of everyday life, and earned by committing to a series of unique NikeCraft challenges.

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-announcement.jpg?

“At a glance, nothing about the Mars Yard 3.0 has changed from the previous iteration,” says Tom Sachs, the famed sculptor and designer behind NikeCraft. “But while this shoe looks like earlier Mars Yard footwear, it couldn’t be more different. Every single thing is completely new — the tooling, midsole, outsole, toe clip, heel clip and feel. Even the packaging, which looks like the previous version, is completely re-engineered from scratch to be reusable.”

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-new-details.jpg?m

The innovation of the Mars Yard 3.0 begins with a natural rubber outsole that delivers increased durability, along with a soft bed of React foam and a carbon fiber shank that provides enhanced support and energy return.

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-4.jpg?m=eyJlZGl0c

The lacing system is redesigned to promote a fit that’s more inclusive for different foot shapes and sizes, featuring 4-millimeter ribbed polyester laces infused with Nike Running technology, a blucher-style eye stay, staggered eyelets and a nylon lace keeper that matches the donning strap at the heel.

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-2.jpg?m=eyJlZGl0c

A TPU toe cap answers wear testers’ requests for increased toe protection, and a TPU heel clip delivers additional stability in every stride. An unprecedented silkscreen-printed Swoosh anchors a timeless colorway familiar to fans of the Mars Yard, which has taken on the natural colors of its materials since its initial launch in 2012.

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-3.jpg?m=eyJlZGl0c

In keeping with the NikeCraft tradition of consumer engagement, Sachs has created a series of I.S.R.U. (In-Situ Resource Utilization) challenges that participants can complete to become eligible to purchase the new silhouette.

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-5.jpg?m=eyJlZGl0c

“Mars Yards have always been hard to get, and they’re always going to be hard to get. If you want them, you’re going to have to work for them,” says Sachs. “Maybe not all of the challenges are for you. That’s OK. What matters is that you do what resonates. I can’t guarantee you will get the shoes, but I can promise your life will improve by participating in meaningful daily routines.”

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-6.jpg?m=eyJlZGl0c

Challenges drop weekly via the NikeCraft Instagram and on the I.S.R.U app, which Sachs developed to encourage a global audience to build self-discipline and break old habits by committing to new, constructive rituals. This marks the first time the activation surrounding a Mars Yard release is open to participants worldwide.

mars-yard-30-headline.jpg?m=eyJlZGl0cyI6

“The values of NikeCraft haven’t changed, but they have been refined over the past 20 years,” says Sachs. “From the very beginning, I viewed NikeCraft as an art project: a place where my studio’s output and ideas could reach a larger audience through the sculpture known as the shoe. These two decades are a further reminder that art is in everything — and is showcased through the Mars Yard in the ultimate art gallery of the streets.”

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-tom-sachs-quote-1

Launching alongside the I.S.R.U. challenges and app is a new documentary, A Brief History of the Mars Yard, a testament to the spirit and evolution of NikeCraft, where Sachs is consistent in his pursuit to have the courage to simply do less.

nikecraft-mars-yard-30-tom-sachs-quote-2

View the documentary on Nike’s YouTube channel, and follow NikeCraft for more stories and updates and to keep tabs on upcoming I.S.R.U. challenges. Download the I.S.R.U. app at NikeCraft.com; participants in an eligible position on the I.S.R.U. leaderboard will have the opportunity to purchase the Mars Yard 3.0 on September 5 at store.tomsachs.com.
