bleed_blue 136
I'm going to assume that's a veiled reference (although you do subtle about as well as a jackhammer) to Michael Emenalo giving him a contract because he's Nigerian...or maybe just because he's black. Bullshit. It's proper business practice to have any asset (which Mikel still is) tied down so we can't lose him on a free. The idea that Emenalo gave him a contract for any other reason is downright offensive to be quite honest. Maybe that's why he secured the signing of Lukaku though, because they're both black right? :banghead:I am also a firm believer in that Nigerian angle. Also, when Mikel moved to Chelsea in 2006, Emenalo was one of the agents involved. Emenalo is not the most transparent person in this regard. The Skipper 20,609
You cited the United game - if you watch that game then for some reason that's frankly bemusing their midfield steps off for the final 30 minutes and invites pressure on themselves. You might say that the terrifying spectre of Mikel was what forced this but I think it had more to do with United's tactics just not working for them.Another possibility is that something else happened in the 52nd minute of that game that altered United's thinking. Maybe the weather shifted, or the Earth tilted a fraction of a degree off it's axis altering the fundamental rules of nature in a way we were more attuned to than United.Or maybe.,...just maybe we also brought on an attacking threat who actually made United's midfield think they should sit deeper because of the danger he posed. That could've been Mikel, or it could've been the other player we brought on at the same time. Some chap called Eden Hazard. TOPTB, I'm not commenting on Mikel's performances in said games, I was simply stating games where the front four have performed well when Mikel has played. bleed_blue 136
When mourinho kicks out mikel (which he has already done), what will be the next excuse of the apologists? My money is on them bringing up casillas example and proclaim that mourinho is not a good judge of talent. The Skipper 20,609
When mourinho kicks out mikel (which he has already done), Sorry, when did this happen? It's like no one is allowed to say anything good about Mikel for you. You're really beginning to bore me now.

Sorry but I judge a player on what he does on the pitch and Makelele and Drogba are in my top ten ,five in Drogba's case Chelsea players of all time and in my view he should still be at the club.Mikel wouldnt be in my bottom ten but I watched Chelsea in the seventies and did not rate Cannoville either (if one is allowed to say that) . Mikel was awarded his contract between managers and the waiter announced in his first press conference that "Mikel has been given a 4 year contract by the club" in the same conference the waiter announced that "Lampard would not be getting a new contract" a fckn disgrace and an asset is only an asset if you can see value on the pitch or be able to cash in on the asset and I dont see too many bidding for Mikel . And yes I would like to know who was awarding contracts to players at this time ,because you may have noticed Lampard has signed a new deal and Mikel seems to be on the bench under Mourinho so far. Emenalo needs to stick to scouting players and Jose should be deciding which players are playing well enough to be awarded contracts. I don't like Mikel but I can't help but think there are far more worthwhile things to discuss about him than the fact that a 25 year old player with a market value of roughly £10 million was given a 5 year contract.....by another Nigerian no less.To me, and I'm going to be kind and say there's nothing more sinister to it, its complete bollocks. Kojo 4,676
Just like the other 32 times last season when Mikel played.I think our front four really hate mikel and underperform to make mikel look bad. (Am I doing it right?)LMFAO

Sounds logical.
Shaan 263
I dont see how mikel will suit mourinho's fast paced couter attacking football if he plans to use it...imo just too incompatible!

Like I said, there's plenty of footballing reasons to object to Mikel without bringing Emenalo into it.
Kojo 4,676
It doesn't seem that Mikel is going to play as much. With him staying I thought Mourinho would see him as a vital player. But these pre season games Van Ginkel seems to be the star man... Of course it's only pre season, however one would think why would a youngster who is hardly going to play get so many pre season minutes?I am definitely a critic of Mikel, but I really don't care if he stays or goes still. I still trust Mourinhos judgment on him and I will judge him during the season when he plays. If he can perform even if he's a squad player, I will be happy. However I don't think Mikel is going to be one of our starting midfielders. The only place to be
Phil Driver 503
For Jon Obi it looks like he has been sussed ,I knew it would not take Jose long ,finally we have a manager who " does know what he is doing" not even on the bench ,even Mikel must realise he would be better off finding a new club? Rammy,Lamps,Van Ginkel and Essien all look to be in front of Obi under Jose and I reckon he would also play Luiz in front of him ,anyone think he could be at a new club before the window closes? Phil Driver 503
The message should be loud and clear now - Ramires - Phoned personally by Mourinho in the summer and left in no doubt of his worth to Chelsea Football Club. Lampard- Only a clown would doubt how good Mourinho knows Frank still is. Essien - Doesnt he call Mourinho Daddy and on the bench yesterdayVan Ginkel - New to the club - but on the bench yesterday and came on. Luiz - To my mind better in that role than Mikel . Ake - Played against Everton last season while Mikel watched.Chalobert - Could also be in front of Mikel now and improving by the day. Mourinho management style is all about psycology he misses nothing and for Mikel the message was clear yesterday,he was not even on the bench and looks to be well down the pecking order, the signs are very good that we will not have to put up with Mikel for too much longer and I would hope he can find a new club and we can thank him for his efforts, hanging around and picking up that large pay cheque for five years stealing a living will not see him leave with any good will and if I were the club I would not be asking for a big fee to move him on. As I expected it looks as though Mourinho has come to the club and is making the right calls from day one, no messing and that is part of what makes him the great manager he is as it takes a higher level of understanding of the game to see how much negativity Mikel brings to the team when he plays and obviously Mourinho has that and has been watching us diligently.
